Vision is blurry. Eyes are uncomfortable, but they don't hurt. Taking a nap now, per the docs orders.

Figured I'd update you guys on the lasik situation.

They told me to take a 2-3 hour nap but I could only sleep an hour. They didn't say shit about getting on the computer or playing video games etc. I'm a tiny bit photosensitive right now but overall I'm pretty good. Thinking about playing some battlefield here pretty soon...

Why take a chance? I think it's a very good idea to just stay away from staring at a monitor for a bit.

They don't put you under. They give you valium or xanax -- I got valium. It was pretty crazy. They put a suction cup over my eyes (one at a time) and made a laser incision to cut a near-complete circle flap that got folded back when I moved to another machine: the machine that actually did the surgery. They basically clamped my eyes open and filled them with numbing drops and told me to stare at a green light. I stared at it, my vision went blurry and out of focus for a few seconds. The green light turned red and mixed with other colors, and then the doctor flipped the flap on my eye back over. Then they did the other eye. I was able to see, but it was blurry for a good bit after and I was extremely sensitive to light. I ate lunch, then went home and took an hour-long valium nap. It wasn't too bad after that. I just have to put these antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops in my eyes for the next 5 days and then keep putting artificial tears in my eyes (special type of lubricating eyedrops) for the next month or so.

The craziest part about the whole process was that when they're lasering your eyes, it smells like burning hair.

You sure you didnt just do a bunch of acid?

Im glad it went well though...its a bit crazy to hear the process considering im thinking of having it done. The exact words from my last eye exam "with out your glasses you have the eye sight of a 60 year old women" : ( .

I think I'll stick to glasses, since I've been wearing them for so long now. When I think about a laser touching my eye, I imagine my eyeballs heating up and exploding.

They keep them so wet with drops that it's not that bad.

For me it's not the actual process itself, but the thought of a laser doing things to my eye that makes things it seem insane.

My question is how much does the procedure cost? Thinking of getting it myself...

Modern day science for the win. I can't wait for little nanobots that rid me of all ailments, and the pills coming out in 20 years that let you live to 1,000yo. no joke there.
