not only to eliminate the threat, but if you shoot and maim someone you will be sued and you will go to jail. there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. if you shoot and kill an intruder, it was self-defense plain and simple.

in kentucky you are legally authorized to use lethal force to protect your property, with the obvious constraits of a posed threat with equal intent.... that's what i call a state!

Here in Michigan we have the "My home is my castle" law. All I need is the smallest reason to believe you are on my property to cause damage. The same goes when I am in my vehicle. If I am out of my truck and see some pecker head trying to steal it I can try and stop but deadly force is not an option. If I am in my truck and you try and steal it I can use all means to stop as long as I don't harm any other people.


If I can prove that after I shot you in the foot when you were breaking into my house you planned to hurt others after you leave I can chase your ass down the street and stop you also.


This all changed Sept 07. our state used to be the gay "option to flee state", which meant that even if you were shooting at me and I had a safe escape route I had to use it.

Florida has castle doctrine

The Florida "Castle Doctrine" law basically does three things:

One: It establishes, in law, the presumption that a criminal who forcibly enters or intrudes into your home or occupied vehicle is there to cause death or great bodily harm, therefore a person may use any manner of force, including deadly force, against that person.

Two: It removes the "duty to retreat" if you are attacked in any place you have a right to be. You no longer have to turn your back on a criminal and try to run when attacked. Instead, you may stand your ground and fight back, meeting force with force, including deadly force, if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others. [This is an American right repeatedly recognized in Supreme Court gun cases.]

Three: It provides that persons using force authorized by law shall not be prosecuted for using such force.

It also prohibits criminals and their families from suing victims for injuring or killing the criminals who have attacked them.

In short, it gives rights back to law-abiding people and forces judges and prosecutors who are prone to coddling criminals to instead focus on protecting victims.

410 isn't powerful enough because it doesn't get enough penetration. If you shoot someone in the chest, you're likely not going to do any damage to their internal organs; you're going to get 1 inch of penetration in their flesh and then you're going to hit bone and the shot is going to stop.

The same goes with birdshot. If you shoot a person with birdshot, then you might as well be spraying a watergun at them. It'll hurt like a bitch, but adrenaline alone can compensate for the minor amount of pain that comes with getting hit with birdshot.

The moral of the story is, have 00 buckshot in your home or don't even think about pulling out a shotgun for home defense. Ever.
