I've been looking at sound cards and i really don't want Creative cause of the bad driver problems. So i found this card it has the same X-fi chip and X-ram from Creative but with out the shitty driver issues. I've done some research on it and haven't found really anything wrong with it so i was wondering if you guys ever heard of it or its bro/sis the prelude. Buy the way there pretty much the same card just one is pci and the other is pci-e

You're still better off buying a Creative x-fi card. I've had mine for a couple years now and have never had a problem with it. Most of my peeps run the same card and have no issues with them. Creative is still the standard.

I'm still not sure about Creative cause i want a top end sound card and i heard about the prelude and then i found forte. I have heard good things and bad things about Creative's top card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6829102019 . I'm still not to sure which way i will go on this yet.

I thinking just out of the whole range of what you should buy, but what kind of stereo system do you have your rig plugged into, cause I really can't see purchasing a card for 150 if your sound system is of the same of for the most part of more value than the card, you just won't pick up your moneys worth with it for the fact your stereo equipment won't pick up the little sentiments the extra sound processing power the card does.

As for brand, Creative is yes the standard and you still should be able to give Creative the try, their last card was pretty much pitch perfect in my books but they got some nice cheap ones that work well and the one I have is nice and performs well even under the standard windows assigned drivers.

That's not Creative's best card, it's just the more expensive one.

Also, if you don't like the drivers, there's a purty good third party drivers that everyone seems to like... the name escapes me atm

I've got this one, beautiful sound quality on 5.1 with both music and games... save your money and get this one if anything at all. If your speakers are shit, stick with the on-board sound.

Turn on Crystalizer 50%.
Set speakers to 2.1.
Uncheck Sync with Microsoft windows CP.
Check Enable X-fi CMSS-3D Virtial.
Play counter strike.
Shit bricks.

Yea that may be but its pci thes the only reason why im not considering it. I really want something pci-e.

Yea pretty much I have a pci-e slot above my gpu and I just really don't want to put a card in the pci slot so my gpu's have room to breath.

What kind of board and graphics card are you running?

My 9600gt's take up almost two slots cause of there heatsinks on them.

hmm... I still think throwing a pci sound card in between the two vga's would be fine, unless the sli bridge got in the way. The comp is going to get warmer either way, but neither putting a card in the pci or the pci-e spot will warm it up to a dangerous temp for the components.

Bottom line if I were you, if the sli bridge isn't in the way of the pci slot, save the money and get the cheaper yet still high quality creative card. But I'm not you, so your choice. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_11

Sell both of those 9600's. Buy a 9800, 260, or 280.
buy a x-fi gamer. Win. SLI is horribly overrated. It took me a lot of time and money to figure that out.
