 I'd like your opinion.
So it's upgrade time again.
Here's what I have currently:
ASUS A8N32 SLi Deluxe
AMD 3500+
ANTEC 500W PSU
2x 1Gb Patriot
2x 36Gb Raptor
1x 7800 GT
Here's what I want:
Gigabyte EX58 Extreme
i7 920 @ 2.6Ghz (also thought about a core 2 quad (yorkfield) but id have to rethink the board)
3x 1Gb Corsair dominator (three channel kit)
ABS Tagan 900W PSU
2x 74Gb Raptor
2x XFX 9800 GT
I'd love to build a dream machine.. but im too po' . I've used only ASUS boards in my last few builds so I"m not familiar with gigabytes product. Is corsair still the solid products it's always been? Never done SLi, I'm figuring dual 9800's will still let me play most of what i want to. Any opinions on the PSU? Also, Do you think I'll need a full tower to hold the 9800's? Thanks for any comments.

I have dual 9800s, they take up ALOT of room. They also need a little bit of breathing room, so, yes, you'll want the bigger box. Just make sure you have enough power to supply those suckers.

This is the case that I've got, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a full tower case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119122
pictures DO NOT do the case justice, If you have ever owned a full tower case, you will understand this, but this case is a f**kin' beast
forget water cooling, throw 7 12cm fans in and this thing keeps my entire system at about 27-30ºC

Wouldn't worry about the 9800s, just grab a gtx260 or 280.

if you knew the meaning behind my nickname, you wouldn't be saying that about my momma... you might want to wear protection with that, because she is nasty
anyway, on the topic of the computer, you should go with the new 260's or 280's depending on how much you want to spend

to double: check the "meaning of username" thread in members area, you'll find out why
and to rokatanski: cooler for the cpu or the video card?
I've got this one on my cpu and I love it, quiet and keeps my cpu UNDER room temp when idle and a little above at load(note that I have a very well ventilated case)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118003
also make sure that you have enough room in your case, whatever one you get, because this is the smaller version and is still pretty large in my big a** case

that is quite the sweet case, though i've heard that there were issues with airflow and whatnot, so coolermaster came out with a newer one, I guess this one is even more kick a**

that's why he should go with the gtx260 216, very good card for a decent price...
if he was going ati, the 4870 1gb cards are on par with the 260 and are about 50 bucks cheaper on average... I've got an intel x38 chipset mb so can only go with ati cards if I want more than one(which is fine with me, always had problems with previous nvidea cards, and not one issue with any of my ati cards, just a personal preference though)

I've built quite a few computers, and this case was by far the easiest to work with and this... -Purple- wrote: good luck rok!
