Anyone use explorer? yes i know it sux...
yea yea explorer is garbage and microsoft sux big black C*CK
ok now that we're past all of that my explorer has been freezing up at least 1 to 2 times a day recently in the past 4-6 weeks. Has anyone else have this problem recently pop up?
The only thing that I could think of is that I installed Chrome and somehow installing it messed up explorer but thats kinda gay and I doubt thats what did it.

i would suggest a fresh install of IE, especially since this whole new security just came up in the last week or so.

can you completely uninstall IE?? I know I've tried before and windows wouldnt let me. ALthough it would be a pain to transfer my favs but I think i like Chrome a lot better. Chrome is lightning fast for me and seems to work well when I'm dling progs.

I recently made the move to Vista just a week ago and yes, I have the same issue with ie freezing and becoming non responsive a couple times a day. I just Downloaded Firefox to try, will try Chrome next. I like how Firefox has has a built in spell checker for general text, for like what I'm writing here. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_11

chrome has a built in spell checker as well. i don't really get popups with chrome, so i can't say whether it slows down when it blocks them or not. another cool thing with chrome is that each tab runs as it's own separate process, so if one tab "crashes" it doesn't shut down the whole program, just the tab that caused the error.

in the options for chrome there is a box to check to "help make google chrome better by automatically sending usage statistics and crash reports to google," which doesn't mean you necessarily have a choice to block them from saving your searches or other data, but who's to say microsoft hasn't been doing that already too?
also, you can open an "incognito" window, which operates just like a normal browser with tabs, that doesn't record your browsing history while you use it.

I don't know how I have everything set up because I set it up once and forget about it but I haven't gotten a pop up in years. Then again I visit the same sites over and over again.
Chrome freaks me out with recording everything. I didn't know it automatically imports all your favs from ie AND firefox. Very bad for me since ie is for regular browsing and firefox is for late nights when i cant sleep. I'll have to check out that incognito window.

it gives you the option of importing your favorites and history. i told it not to when i installed it. i would say it's at least worth downloading and checking out to see if you like it.
