Post dual monitors. (NEED HELP)
i have a geforce 8800gt 512mb.
i've been trying all day to get the dual monitor function working. as u can tell. its not. lol

wat i have it at right now is. everything is set as if it were in dual view mode, i can drag things off my primary screen to where it SHOULD show up in the secondary screen.
this is where the problem lies. nothing shows up on the secondary screen. it just sits there in power saving mode. i've googled around and haven't read anything that was any bit helpful.

i've updated all my drivers and stuff for the monitors. and video card. and again the monitor is in power saving mode. doesnt say 'no signal' or w.e.

some help from you computer guru's if i can. plz and thanks.

nope both monitors work. i can make any monitor primary and which ever monitor is secondary will just go into power saving.

im thinking that possibly using windows to set it up and being able to set it up thru nvidea control panel is screwing it up? like i can only have one of them? have the other makes it F*CK up?

My first suggestion would be checking your power supply. Those things tend to get a bit tricky during the winter times.

Secondly, does the card have its own settings panel if so you should check to see if there's like a dual monitor wizard or something. Also you set it up on your properties panel under the settings with the advanced button. If you already know about these and have tried them, my bad, just refer back to the first suggestion and you should be good to go.

I've got a 6200 and it has one. I sometimes hook the computer up to the tv and it's basically the dual monitor settings. There was a wizard on the nvidia panel that I used to identify and add my tv to the available displays list.

i can only uncheck my primary by making my secondary into the primary. if i do this. then the new secondary monitor reacts the same way.

ok man im going to try and walk you through this

First thing you need to do is stop F*CKING with the nview settings they arent very user friendly at all...

1. Step one set all nview settings to the " DEFAULT SETTING"

2, Step two go to your desktop and right click to go properties and click on the settings tab

3. Step Three there should be two pictures of two differnt dispays that you can click on. Click on the picture that has the #1 on it. Then click on the check box that says "use this device as the primary monitor" this should have a check in it

4. Step four Click on the monitor that has the #2 on it and put a check box that says extend my windows desktop onto this monitor ( this shoiuld have a check in it and nothing else on the #2 device) make sure the resolution and refresh rate are compatibal with the monitor you seleted.

It should work after that if it doesnt try switching it up and doing the reverse with 1 and 2 if not then theres an issue with your video card settings or drivers. At that point i would recomend going to nvidias website and downloading the latest drivers ang going from there

Last tip if it works but you have to move the mouse cursor to the left to make it show up on the right monitor just reverse the cables on the back of your video card. Its much easier than changing all the settings.

Hope this works for you bro

i've already tried all that too. lol. all drivers are up to date. i honestly think its just the 8800gt. if u google '8800gt dual monitors' u'll see alot of people have similar problems, yet noone has an answer. the people who DO have it working on their 8800gt's don't say how.. haha.

nivida jus released a new driver on the 15th. and its still not any good. monitor drivers are also up to date. i even uninstalled all of it cleaned my registry and installed it again.
