 Best Laptop Deals?
I know gaming systems, component parts and building tower rigs from scratch. I have had IBM think pads, Toshiba, Dell and HP laptops. The last few I bought off ebay for around $300 used. I now need to buy 3 or 4 laptops (2 for college girls, 1 for a fireman and another for a landscaper. The don't need anything too powerful and basically need for email, word processing and internet access.
So has anyone been shopping or recently bought a Laptop and can give me any advice or sources (new or used) for good deals around $300 for a decent unit. I now work for HP since they bought EDS and I think I can get a employee 15% discount on new HP laptops, but last I checked on new prices, I could still get more bang for my buck buying used off ebay.
Looking at HP 530 or maybe HP Pavilion dv5 series or HP Compaq 6820s or HP Pavilion DV6 series???

HP's are the shit right now as far as non gaming lappy's go.You will most likely have to cull a bunch of junkware that there notorious for but it will be a quality laptop.
I just got a dell not long ago and the quality of that thing is shit.Dell has just went so far downhill.

i was gonna suggest dell if gman could get you the employee discount since he works there, but i don't know how well you two know each other and if he'd be willing to exchange his services for you to service him :)
you can also try www.pricewatch.com for deals on new or used shit, lots of stuff too, not just computer items.

That looks just like the laptop I got for my wife. For general internets, messaging, DVD playing, and regular day-to-day use, it's a fine machine. Not a damned thing wrong with it.
I've never tried to play games on it so I can't vouch for the integrated graphics.
Did have to disable a shitload of factory installed bullshit and lean out the installation though. It's cluttered and inefficient off the shelf.

Good portability, battery life, and decently priced. Not sure if you were looking for a bigger laptop, like the one you posted, but I use this thing for my classes, fits nicely in my backpack. Just good s**t overall.

No problem. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_06 It's perfect for traveling, my average battery life is around six to six and a half hours. Nice for when I need to type up a paper, and even better when I have a wi-fi connection around.

nice, there's only one thing that I'd change:
3-cell Li-ion battery
If you buy a 6 cell, you'd get about 7 hours or so instead of 2.5

Yeah, and it's only 8.9 instead of 10" screen. Also I never really liked Dell or Acer but always loved ASUS! Plus Walmart charges Tax... Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_17

Yeah i didn't see the 3 cell vs 6 cell. But i think it depends on how the manufacturer measures as far as screen size goes.I could be wrong. But still if you add 6 cell and taxes it wouldn't be any cheaper.
My boss got two of the acer for his young daughters after i pointed him to them so im anxious to see if they hold up.
