Eh, everyone makes mental/verbal confusion mistakes when they talk. Certainly Bush does and he gets plenty of flak for it, but McCain does to. Anyone who's campaigning or doing any other job that requires multiple speaking events a day is going to slip up here and there, this clip is just particularly funny because it happened to Obama while he was talking about the number of states.
Anyways, 50-3 (alaska/hawaii/"one to go") is 47...looks to me like he had "50 states" on the mind and tripped up with 47/57.
