Yes, I'd rather have privatized companies deny people that are willing to work just because they're too tall, or because they're above the weight limit that they deemed you have to be (regardless of the percentage of body fat)...

lolwut?

Some companies approve/deny healthcare based on your BMI, regardless of your lifestyle. If your BMI is above/below their standards, your deemed overweight (or underweight for a low one) and denied coverage.

I'm not quite sure what healthcare coverage has to do with willingness to work, but if they deny you maybe try another company...? That's kind of the beauty of capitalism.

I mentioned that because Corpse said that Universal Healthcare is just to pay for deadbeats. They're not deadbeats if they're willing to work.

In his Speech he gave life stories and other nostalgic crap. Didn't catch what exactly the healthcare plan would be; he promised 100% FREE healthcare right, As opposed to subsidized?

Gotcha. Argue me this - Wouldn't the government turn people down for the same (or more retarded) reasons? Like how they scam us with that whole Social Security thing?

And on that. My mom is getting older and was in a bad car accident a couple years ago. OASDI is supposed to cover old-age and disability, but she can't get any of the money that was taken out of every single one of her checks. Think about that. You CAN'T refuse to pay the Social Security tax, but they can refuse giving you your money back when you need it?

Yeah, let them take over healthcare. See how much you get out of it.

In America, we keep your money.
In Canada, we take your money, and give it back through gay programs like Welfare, and Child Tax Benefit (2 Kids is about $1000 a month, if one parent is unemployed).

So insurance was finally filed for my LAP-BAND surgery (basically a less risky gastric bypass) last Monday. Today, my father got a call from the surgeon's secretary after she had received a call from Tri-Care.

DE-f**king-NIED

Tri-Care doesn't cover LAP-BAND surgeries. Hoorah.

So, anyway, my father has decided to pay for it out of pocket. Something to the tune of $30,000 dollars. $30,000 he doesn't have. My dad is never going to be able to retire now. He's 63, has barely made a dime in years, is supporting his family off of his retirement fund, and is now going to get a loan for atleast $30,000. He's taking it so far up the ass for me that I can't even begin to comprehend how much he cares about my well-being because he's that great of a father.

I could sit here and bitch and complain about myself doing this to him, but I'm not that emo and faggoty. Yes, it's my fault this is happening, but there's nothing anyone can do to change the past, so all I can do now is respect the fact that my father isn't a dead-beat, walk-out asshole.

If you're into the praying thing, keep my father in your prayers. My family in your prayers. And I could use some prayer too.

Thanks, guys. You're my second family.

AND THEN:

It's more than just poor people.

I'm 100% for universal healthcare. Privatized healthcare has almost killed my little brother twice.

My brother was born with holes in his heart. He had open heart surgery when he was 10 months old. He was covered on my stepfather's insurance until he was 19. No insurance company will cover him now. He's too much of a risk. Before he can have any medical procedure he has to take special medicine for a week that is very expensive and totally out of pocket. He can't even go to the dentist without this medicine. He had a blood infection a year ago while he was living out of state doing construction and every doctor REFUSED to treat him because of his heart. He had to quit his job and move back home just to get treated by the local doctors that know my family, but even then, it was cash up front.

You guys can be all for it while you're healthy, but even with insurance the way it's set up now, you're 1 major illness away from losing everything. It's hard to see the big picture when you live inside a bubble.

And $4000? Please stop with the propaganda. If anything, without the insurance companies and pharmacuetical's running the show, the price of insurance per household will go down.

Cool.

That still doesn't make it my responsibility to pay for the health insurance of anyone but myself. Hell, I don't even pay for health insurance for myself. A gun is cheaper than insurance and will kill me a lot quicker than a doctor can.

The problem isn't the fact that people are unable to afford health care. The problem is that doctors have forgotten about the oath they took.

I'd rather not have a razor bandage applied to a wound that needs a tourniquet and a new limb.

I fixed the chronology for you there.

And yes, I did at one point in my life find it just fine to turn a blind eye to using my father's government funded military healthcare. And yes, people do change. And yes, my father did care enough about his child to do that. And yes, it was a F*CKING mistake.

Your brother is not my child. I do not care about your brother, the three people in this apartment with me, anyone in this complex, this city, and this state on the same level my father cares about me. I'd add country in there, but I'd do the same for my parents that they did for me.

I do not care how heartless this makes me sound. I do not care how much you want to perceive me being a hypocrite.

I do not want government any further in my freedom or my wallet.

I will continue making donations to charities and organization that strive to assist those who need medical assistance.

It is unsettling that my government can hold a gun to my head, steal my money, and then use it to feed itself when my money can just as easily be mine to give freely as I see fit. Don't get me wrong, I see it fit to give and in large amounts - but F*CK anyone who tells me I have to do it. I don't have to do it; I choose to do it.

actually if the goverment got its F*CKING nose out of the health care industry and let them actually be privatly run with out all the restrictions you would see a great deal of competition take place and that in turn would bring the prices down and the quality back up.

Well part of the reason Social Security is a mess now is that the government has "borrowed" money from the social security trust in hopes of giving it back later. If they just left the damn thing alone things wouldn't be as bad.

I'm not saying that the government is perfect, it never has been and it never will be, but I personally would feel better if health care was run by an entity that has at least some obligation to serving the people in this country than an entity that only cares about the bottom line of their business and nothing else.

I guess it depends on your perspective as well. My dad worked for an insurance company for over 20 years, I've been raised to never trust insurance companies, as all they really care about is the numbers on their bottom line.
