 Battlefield 2 (Also C*CK)
So I reinstalled BF2 and I can barely join any servers because it keeps pulling this shit with punkbuster.
How do I make it stop shitting itself and start shaking hands with punkbuster?
Also, it takes forever to join servers and when I'm in a game it twitches like it's laggy but I'm pinging less than 100. How would I fix that? (I was thinking just get more RAM.)

It sounds like it may be a firewall/port issue, but I'm no expert.

Well I didn't have my firewall up when I was playing it oddly enough. I can only play on like 2 servers because the game goes all twitchy. Like I said before I think I need more RAM.

Ok I got Punkbuster to F*CK off for most servers but some other shit is getting annoying. I'll be playing and every once in a while the game will twitch then freeze up and the current sound effects will loop for a few seconds. Sometimes it skips to the current frame, sometimes it continues where it left off as if everyone was lagging. I see my ping is below 50 and the minimum requirements when I bought the game was around 6600 Geforce which is the video card I have. Sometimes it just freezes up and then the whole game shuts off and goes to the desktop. WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER/GAME? Someone tell me please. I'm enjoying playing it again but the twitching problem is making me want to break things.

I had the same problem with punkbuster.I tried to fix it and i still could not join any servers. So then i just reinstalled bf2 and now it goes splash screen then black.Tried reinstalling several time and googled hell out of the problem and came up with a million fixes and none worked.
I had this problem before and i fixed it but for the life of me i cant remember how i did it.And bf2 will run fine with 1 gig and smooth as silk with 2 gigs.In not saying 4 gigs would not be better but the game just doesnt require that much.I played it maxed out at 1280 1024 with a x800xl and 2 gigs when it first came out and never dropped below 85 frames. In your case it could be a heat issue.Check to see if your card is nasty as hell and try running some benchmarks like http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark05/ to see if you have similar issues. If so then your card may be biting the big one.

GOD DAMNIT.
I've got 512 DDR RAM and I'm needing to get to frys to buy some more I just haven't gotten around to it. I fixed the punkbuster issue for MOST servers. I can't get into some and I've given up on it for now I just want to get my comp running nice. I'm planning on getting maybe 2 gigs then see how it works.
Also, you mentioned overheating methinks, and everyonce in a while maybe less than once per day/once every couple or three days the computer will make this sound like a squeaky metal brake for a second and I know it's the fan I just don't know which one. I hope to god it's not my heatsink fan cuz I just bought that shit a little while ago. It hasn't caused any problems and I think maybe I just need to oil it?

NO OIL.The dust will just stick to the oil and gum it up.If you think you got a fan that needs cleaning and it wont blow clean with air then wash the sucker.Thats right blast that mother with a hose,as long as you let it dry it will be fine.

It's OK to remove a wired, electrically powered computer fan from your computer and blast it with a garden hose and then just let it dry?

This is like the time my brother asked me to clean his pc and I told him to wipe the insides down with a wet rag.

And you're saying it won't foul up or rust the connections? I usually just painstakingly clean all the dust off it with a paper towel lol.
