I dont think there should be a mandatory dish out cash bit... part of the reason n00bfest is so popular is because its so big... and free. n00bfest greatly appriciates any donations you could give, but I dont personaly think asking for money is the way to go.

Your talking about 'dues' and fees for the regulars... instead start to donate willingly regularly first :P

buy a rechargable credit card (best buy /circut city) then open a pay pal account and every month give 2dollars or what ever you saved up ;) N00bfest would make much much more money than the server maintenace current costs. n00bfest (if it wanted to) could grow way more that way.

gotta agree with Mr.Sox although asking for donations may not always be successful, making people pay will greatly decrease the traffic on the server. That leaves you in a slight pickle about the monthly cost though. If no one donates, it comes out of your pocket. My suggestion is keep things they way they are (you are much better off than some servers),
I would donate, but I am too young to start up my own paypal account. Also saving for University ;).

Do you guys have a subscription option for n00bfest? In one of the gaming communities I belonged to one of the donation options was a subscription through paypal. Even if just a handful of people sign up for $5 or $10 per month, that creates a steady flow of cash. And if you get enough members or even non-members to sign up for a subscription based donation then you have a solid base of income to run the servers and all the random donations outside of that are just icing on top.

As far as other options, I've only played on the Main CS:S server so I can't really comment. But I'll definately be trying the others out soon.

Well, the subscription is still on a voluntary basis, just a new option to donate. I think once you start charging anyone to be a member or admin, things would change for the worse. JMO

So yeah. I typed out an essay about this and then deleted it to make room for this post that says all of nothing.

I still stick with my original argument, 2-3 bucks from each member a month.

at least 35-45% of you play WoW which is $15 dollars a month and you dont complain. And n00bfest not only gives you multiple servers with different games, but also a forum to sound smart, and even a Ventrilo server so that you can let your retarded voice be heard.

Pretty much, the only people that would leave are the select few who are free-loaders and who needs them anyway?

There. I just payed for 33.3 repeating freeloaders.

Actually. I paid for 29 free loaders and the rest goes to the "GreaterBad-Better-Slob-On-My-Knob" Foundation.

Just my opinion, and I know it will probably be ignored, but one way you could keep more people entertained and avoid having low server population is to have a map vote after every map instead of a rotation/rtv function. This way there will be less prodigy and office won't come around so often which also seems to lose players after it comes up every 3rd map. Also, would remove the beacon tk punishments, I know that frustrates a lot of people and causes them to leave.
