Post computer problem (keyboard and memory &vid card)
Hey guys im having 3 issues that hopefully i can get help for.

1) my computer is reading 3gb ram when theres 4gbs (at some point it read 3.5)
2) when ever i install an update on my computer and restart my computer cannot recognize my keyboard and i have to uninstall the driver and restart for it to be found (quite annoying)
and last
my nvidia card will not allow me to tune system. I get an error "tune system can only be performed on nvidia2 platform" or some shit

Ill post my computer specs when i get home

(1) Could it be that your motherboard has onboard video and is allocating a portion to the vram?If so go into your bios and disable on board video.

(2) To start with i would not have automatic updates on and if your using xp there are no updates worth getting. But anywho if the keyboard is usb i would find the adapter and use it instead.Sometimes usb keybaords are wonky that way. Also unless the keyboard has some special features that you just must have i would can the drivers and software all together.

(3)Im gonna treat the last question about the gfx card like 3 even though there was no 3.Anywho this could also be due to on board video in direct conflict with a add on card.By tune i guess you mean advanced video properties like aa,af,refresh and such.

If your running vista disregard all of this and kill yourself now.

Your first one is probably the limit of x86 systems to only read ~3GB of RAM. Gman tells me there's a file you can edit to get Windows to read all 4GB, but I'll have to ask him.

Second one I need to poke around to figure out.

And for the third problem, are you using the nTune utility from nVidia? If so, is your motherboard using an nVidia chipset? The tuner won't work if your motherboard is not an nVidia chipset.

Update systemboard bios.

And yes, normal OS have a limitation of about 3.5 gigs, you have to modify I believe a registry file to get it to recognize all 4 gigs.

Don't know which one though.

figures out the system can only handle 3 I also found out that the nvidia tune system wont work because i have intel >;P

as for the keyboard thing you are probably right i could use the adapter, but id rather find the solution than a rememdy

when i was saying updates i mean any, updates to games, anti virus, os, etc.

i thought it might be irqs but i disabled some hardware such as the modem which i never use to free some up but dindt work

there is no 3rd party driver for the keyboard jsut what the system had already installed

For the ram you have to find your boot.ini and add a PAE switch to it.

support.microsoft.com

Search for PAE switches. ;)

It's your boot.ini file, but 32bit architecture (without PAE) only supports 4GB of memory. Windows XP Pro SP2 supports 4GB of memory, but will only allow you to use 3GB unless you're a leet haxor or you're running WinXP Pro SP2 x64.
