3 weeks I dont know about the rest of you but 3 weeks isnt really that long of a timeframe. And this dumbass kid decided to himself, Hmm, even though there are over 100 different maps of CS to play on, I am going to make a detailed map of my school in a game where Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists kill each other with pistols, rifles, grenade's and machine guns. Then show it to my friends. And if one socially rejected freak finds this map online by chance and gets an idea to go on a killing rampage at my school. Its not my fault, I was just having fun.

That's right, it wouldn't be his fault. It would be the fault of the "socially rejected freak". It's not like someone is going to play his map and suddenly have a eureka moment along the lines of, "Man, I really hate everyone at my school...WAIT A SECOND! This map has given me the original idea of bringing weapons onto campus and shooting a bunch of people!"

If that were true, we should censor any media depictions of school shootings; after all, who knows what ideas people will get from the news...

The problem here is, a lot of you arent thinking outside of your own comfort zone's.
I have played Counter-Strike for years, and I have never had a desire to go on a killing rampage. And I would like to believe none of you all have not either.

The issue here is that adults that arent active at all in the Gaming Community dont understand the fun of playing a game like Counter-Strike. They simply see it as a game where you run around trying to massacre people and there happens to be a lot of blood involved.

And then you have one sociopathic kid who decides one day to go on a killing spree and by chance he plays CS. So they assume by their limited knowledge of mature games that CS was where he got the idea for his killing spree.

So this kid who made this map of his school shouldve used his head, and thought to himself, "Ok, I am not making this map to look like the next school killer, but how will people react if they see that I made a map like this so soon after a horrific school slaying?"

Bottom line is that since Present Day America is so jacked up, you have to weigh the Pro's and Con's of everything you do before you do it. Or else people will rush to pin the Psycho title on you even though you could be the most normal person alive.

Lord, instead of trying to flame this conversation, why dont you offer a logical rebuttle like everyone else has?

How can you not understand why a school shooting happened? I have never seen a case of a school shooting in which the student wasn't considered "an outcast" or "weird." These are the kids that always get picked on and mocked by the "popular" kids. These kids get fucked with on a daily basis because, as an old sig of mine pointed out, success in todays youth consists of "idiots" and "idiots who became famous." Kids only understand what the entertainment industry tells them to understand. American Idol and Survivor and their rip-offs have only contributed to the ease in which we can be complacent dipshits.

This has been true for decades. "Dorks" and other "undesirable" kids are the targets of bane and mockery and even physical abuse from the "cool" and "popular" kids. Then, when the tables are turned and other students have to experience the pain of the one they so readily tortured, they don't like it at all. When the act is over and the kid is arrested or killed or kills himself, everyone goes in to this bullshit.

The kids in the school talk about how socially inept their little punching bag was and how "weird" and "deranged" he seemed. They never for a moment take in to account that being as this kid was already "weird" and "deranged" maybe being extremely cruel to him wasn't a great idea.

The parents jump in and look for any scapegoat they can. The idiots chose video games. The bigger idiots chose the second amendment.

Then Jack Thompson gets a mental boner and rapes the situation for all the money it's worth.

I agree that some/most parents have a different frame of mind than kids do. Still, your original post said it WOULD be the map-maker's fault if someone went on a rampage at his school, not that parents would THINK it was his fault.
