You can read tnak language? And there could've been another shooter, but they will never know because they will just assume that it was the same guy. But in reality, VT should have had some sort of security lockdown after the first shooting just to make sure something after that didn't happen since they never found the original guy. I'm not sure about what your school district would have done if you were still in there, but where I went to school, they would've put everything on lockdown. Now the students story and the story from the higher up faculty have 2 diff sides. Just like when the media said police went straight in even though they sat around for a prolonged period of time. The higher faculty said there was sirens and other things they did that warned the students before the second attack, and students said the warnings didn't start comming until news media was there on the second shooting.

Typewriters make people have bad grammar.

Cigarettes make people smoke them.

The Internet makes people act stupid.

Cars make people wreck them.

Guns kill people.

Yeah right. Hah.

There is no real black and white answer, but I do believe that guns don't kill people but make it easier to kill people.

Had this guy gone on campus with knives or some sort of home fashioned weapons like pipe bombs, he probably would have been stopped before he killed too many people.

Also, there is no rigorous test involved with the ownership of a gun. I can buy one from Wal-Mart right now... Although just going into a Wal-Mart may be considered a TEST by some.

Police officers in most cities are required by law to operate a taser for a number of weeks before they can even begin the training for their firearm... This involves them getting shot with the taser!

Why is it that police officers are required to go through such hard testing to own a gun, yet people can just walk into a store, and at worst it takes a paper license which you buy and don't really take a test for at all?

I think if we need a license that requires testing to drive a car, we surely need tougher testing for firearms ownership.

That way it'll weed out a lot of the idiots who don't deserve a gun, and those mature enough to at least pass a test will get the gun they deserve.

Also there should be different tiers in gun licenses. Tier 1: Gas weapons. Tier 2: Electric contact weapons. Tier 3: Electric projectile weapons (Tasers) Tier 4: Projectile weapons LEVEL 1 (Small pistols) Tier 5: Projectile weapons LEVEL 2 (Semi-Automatic rifles) Tier 6: Everything else.

There should also be a longer period of waiting when you purchase a gun. A lot of crimes of passion are committed within days of buying the weapons.

Didn't this clown who shot up the VT campus just buy one of his weapons?

Blah.

Remember that shootout in L.A. back in the 90s? Those dudes were using FMJ rounds and AK-47s. That stuff should require EXTENSIVE testing and licensing.

Also, I think it's kind of ironic that this kid killed 30+ people making it the worst shooting in American history and on top of it he's Asian.

I smell hacks.

Fully automatic weapons are illegal. Ammo mags that carry over a certain number of rounds are illegal.

THe police go though extensive training because they are expected to shoot humans when thier job calls for it. Alot of that is mental conditioning.

This was one of those evil flukes. Some crazy person walking into a situation that people were not prepared for nor expecting. These things happen and we learn to stop them in the future.

High schools have much more security after Columbine<sp>. Airports have more security after 9-11. I'm sure campuses will have that sercutiry,<sp> now.

They are not illegal if you own a certain class license. But obtaining that license requires you to sign a form saying that the police or government are allowed to come into your house at anytime and search freely without a warrant.

This may be far fetched, but the best solution to me seems to be putting either some tracking device in each gun, or at least for the people using their guns as 'home security' have a receiver that is somehow fixed to the ground, bolted or whatever. That way it is confined to staying within the house. Don't know what hunters would do though, maybe I'm talking crazy. Maybe you'd be required to have this device for so long, or something like that....
