Post scrims.....
You know i was thinking , It seems like you guys want to do some practice on the tourney server allot. Why dont you just break things up a little bit.
For instance, we have a shit ton of recruits.

Create a Recruit scrim team. The reagulars on the server the ones that are always on. Schedule matches on certain days with sanf memebers using the rules that we use for actualy tourneys. I mean not just normal peeeps, guys that want to play to win , that are really interested in true competative play. The ones that are going to help improve the over all tactics and play of not only SANF members but the recruits themselves.

I mean shit the recruits have only an RCT next to there name, give them a purpose. A chance to show that yes they are really interested in SANF, not only by attendance on the server, on the forums, but if you have an organized team of players, and those players become SANF, they can teach the new members that arent as saavy in tournament play. Making SANF overall stronger and better.

We work as a team, as a whole unit to win.

just my 2 cents, take it or leave it lol

Also i was just thinkin too that if you decided to use the recruits id give them special tags to show that they are members of the recruit battle team i guess you would call it. Might offer extra incentives to other people that play.

Hell you could even setup ranks inside the recruits, you could take it as far as you wanted to, or not take it at all lol. just another thought :D

Hmmm....

That could cause a problem for the recruits. Some SANF regs might not like getting puned by the same recruits over and over again.

It could effect the voting, when their time comes.

Hell, just mix the teams up randomly. Couple SANF, and a few recruits or regs per team. Pit the SANF regulars against each other.

Well, if you put recruits on teams with SANF members, it gives them time to bond with us.

well supposed that we did do something like that, im curious would you rather have actual teams setup with like sanf memebers as the leaders? or would you want the teams to be totally random everytime, both have there benifits and there drawbacks ya know

You know what GMAN you have a really good point, so do you corpse i didnt even think about the reprecussions that an all recruit team could cause as far as voting and things concerned with there soon to be membership of SANF.

Forgive me if i over step my bounds i know im a lowly recruit and all but if this could even be a possability to come into action givin the points that were made this might be how i would handle it.

I would use SANF members leading the teams, recruits and regulars that wanted to attend as the members.

Let the teams pick there team names. Now they arent just designated they are starting to form a relationship on a competative lvl. They form the common bond that now this is now Team not just a bunch of people.

People that come into the server regulars and new people as well into the community will see this. Might help inspire more activity inside the community.

Start with something small. say 2 scrims a week. different maps each week. Maps to be annonunced at the beginning of the week. This is done for a couple of reasons. First by announcing the maps, it gives the teams times to scedule practices, they work as a unit to come up with the best possible strategies to dominate the map, along with contingency plans.
i would get one single team together in a map with no opponent, pick apart the map. Make it known where the choke points are in the maps. Where can you expect the most enemy engagements. How can we stop them? What if things go wrong? what are the best positions we can be in when we are engaged? Team movement tactics. Overcoming multiple enemies at once. Teach them how to retreat to a designated spot to regroup and overcome the enemy. Make names for some of the spots on the maps like poeple call short A and long A on dust2 for faster communication

Why do we change maps you ask? so we can F*CKING learn them all. if any givin team practices on a map during the week it is played, they will have strategies already in place if the map comes up in the tourney. Yes i know that sometimes you wanna toss that odd ball F*CKING map in there to screw both teams just to test how well they work together. And thats all fine and dandy too.

Now the as the team leaders they would have the responsability to help keep the team moving on to thier objective. To teach the young ones how to do this right and how to win. The SANF team leaders will get newfound respect just in the community alone. It gives newcomers something to aspire to not just to join the server to play, but to be apart of something different even tho they arent memebers of SANF.

Team leaders will learn more about there players than they already know, they will learn each and every one of there teams weaknessess and strengths. Not only that they will like GMAN said they will bond with each other. All the teammates will, not just the leaders and the players but the players with the players as well. And i dont know about you, but when i know all my homies are on kickin ass i wanna join in on the fun too.

Backup players for the scrim teams are easy enough to fill if your down one member grab someone from the main server. yea it sucks sometimes to be down a member of a good team but, 5 on 5 is better than uneven odds. unless ofcourse the smaller team is feeling really froggy. I know this much when in the tourney one man down can kill your team at times tho.

Working on team comminication is the key... not many people thought that team orange would win. Ill tell you this my Mic was always going and so was the rest of the teams, hell L1ve doesnt even have a mic but he could type faster than most anyone else i have seen and has those radio calls down pat. Thats why we won it was all in the comminication. No offence to any memeber here, but these couple nights that we were together on the tourney server, communication was severly lacking in some members.
Greenman even asked me to do a write up on team communicating altho i havent gotten around to that yet.

Ok now why i wouldnt wanna do just random tossed together teams every night.

Ok if you wanna learn tourney play in my opinion you have to have a stong foundation to build on. If you just toss peeps together every night all your going to learn is how to get murdered agains the players that will work as a team and communicate. i would do set teams until they both had a solid foundation of tacits, strats, weapon knowlege, map knowlege ect. say a couple of months or so. then leave the team captians the same, and move members around or hell if we have enough people interested make more teams. If you move the teammates around they will be able to teach each other different tactics, making more rounded players. also gives the SANF memebers time to get to know more members.

Also if you just add random peeps you get too many chiefs and not enough indians, Everyone will try to call shots and things like that, and that doesnt work well and its not fun. Some of you may have seen this on the scrims over the past couple of days as well.

This is just my humble opinion again but there it is.

see you all on the server,
Mithril

Post Well this is one of the most civil and productive threads
Damn I am impressed this is one of the most civil and productive threads I've ever seen. It seamed like everyone made good points. I like all the ideas. Heehee political correct. I think that some of the recruits are experienced scrimmers and I would love to learn from someone who knows what the hell there doing. I also like the idea of us intermixing and getting our groove on. Hell yea we ought to set up scrim practice times. No pressure or none of that shit just times that members and recruits know there should be a scrim game going on.

However, I can say this we've been practicing the last few days and one of the issues is joe blow from outta no were comes in to play and doesn't have a clue about whats going on and then winds up getting kicked leaving with a bad taste in his mouth.

So, if I might add one suggestion we should post a password on the members application section that way all regs have access to it and ppl that aren't regulars can't crash our scrim. That way no hard feeling for anyone who might wanna become a reg and no crashing our party. Just a suggestion.

Personally, I don't really like organized gaming. It's fun, yeah, but it's a F*CKING chore sometimes.

Chores aren't fun, unless you're a woman... and then they aren't really fun, you just have to do 'em so the old man doesn't beat you with a frying pan.

That is exactly why I'm so glad we have the volunteers to handle this stuff.

A lot of people have bad email addresses. It's sending me bounced emails from AOL and a couple of other providers saying "user unknown".

The other error that's happening now is the "watched thread" error. I haven't worked on it at all yet.

Now that I've fixed the "debug" errors, I think I might be able to resolve the others with a 3rd party email program like I tried to do before.

Anyone with a @corpsehumper.com email address (gman) in their profile will not work because there's no POP3 for corpsehumper.com right now. You'll be an unrecognized user. I had to change my forum profile to my yahoo address to stop many of the errors.
