 my new ride
just got it today :P im so F*CKING happy, its my "first" car (in the sense that ive been driving a 95 aerostar xlt, but it was my dads :P)
96 probe se with 97k miles, fully loaded, tilt, auto (im to F*CKING lazy and have no one to teach me stick)
only a 4 bannger but meh at 24 miles to the gallon ill take it (hehe and its american made)
the inside is F*CKING perfect (minus a seatbelt cover) and the outside has no F*CKING dents/dings or anything
guy who had it before me did a bunch of work (new headgasket, water pump, thermostat, sparkplugs and wires, and some engine work done)
only thing is wednesday i have to tweek a few things (speaker replacements, its also idling a bit fast, around 1500-2000 though every now and then it drops to like 500 (think the throttle is sticking) so i just have to spray that and maybe do brake pads....nothing a few hours wont cure)
i think in a week or two i might put a cold air intake on it but who knows. if i have some extra cash lying around why not eh?

Nice ride. For your idling problem, IIRC Ford uses an acutator to control idle speed. It is located on the throttle body. Best bet is to hop on a forum..

Cool. I would recommend getting a real service manual from Ford. Chilton and their ilk print alot of wrong info. I found out the hard way when I first started messing with cars. 700-800 RPM's is about the right idle speed for an automatic. Also grab a can or two of SeaFoam (AutoZone, and Pep-Boys), take one can and dump it in a full gas tank(or dump it in on an empty tank just as you fill up), and drip about a half can down the throttle body while revving the engine (until you have a nice smoke show) to clean out any junk in the combustion chamber. http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm
The stuff rocks!
