Need new bands
Hey, I need some new band ideas. Look at the bands down there, and tell me what I should try!
I'm really into british folk rock/indie rock or similar musical styles: - mumford and sons - John Butler Trio - The Pogues - The Fratellis
I'm also into irish-like music: - Paddy and the Rats - Dropkick Murphy's - Flogging Molly
And some more pop-rock orientated bands (happens): - Maroon 5 - Incubus - Our Lady Peace
And experimental/electronic like: - Gorillaz - Ratatat - Modest Mouse - Radiohead (my favorite band)
And the obvious: - Dream Theater - Pink Floyd - etc.
I get bored easily of the big famous bands like DT and Pink Floyd, even though I really love them, it's not what I'm looking for. Do you have any ideas on what I should listen to / give a shot depending on the styles I named up there and the examples? I've been listening to the same music over and over, and I'm getting bored of my playlist. I need more music.
Shoot!

Re: Need new bands
If you can appreciate strong Classical music influence I recommend you start listening to Moondog.
Listen to some Portishead or Massive Attack yet?

Re: Need new bands
God Moondog is old! Never expected it to be 1950-1990 music, impressive and good music, but not sure it's the kind of music I'm looking for..
Portishead isn't quite what I'm looking for either. I'm not sexist, but I don't like women singing other things than jazz.
I actually like massive attack. It's smooth and damn I'd see some of their songs in a movie or trailer. Good find! They also seem to play with different bands?

Re: Need new bands
Not really, I don't like hard music. Hardest I can still listen to is albums like Science by Incubus or songs like Honor Thy Father by DT... gives you a fair example of how noisy I want it. Seriously, right now I'm more into folk-pop (not Bieber-pop)-rock. When I say electronic, it doesn't mean bar music or dubstep, it's more like ratatat or gorillaz: needs a certain musical line in it. The closest to metal I'll ever get is progressive metal like DT. It's enough for me.
I do like wolfmother though, also happens that I listen to Offspring when I feel like a 15yo boy again.

Re: Need new bands
Yeah Larry and his Flask sounds good, annoyed me though how badly sync they were in that videoclip :P but that doesn't matter. Thanks for that, looks like the kind of bands I'd listen to while going kayaking, drinking or else

Re: Need new bands
Bought 2 albums of a new band I discovered 2 days ago: Xavier Rudd It sounds like indie-folk, he's from Australia and it's full of different percussions from around the world and catchy rythms. I highly suggest you give it a shot! I'm a big time fan of latin and african music and a lot of his songs sound latin/folk/reggae/blues. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kZ4rtBzskAAlso bought Never Long Gone by Larry and his Flask. Thanks for pointing it out yeti, it's really good!

Wow, blackmill sounds really F*CKING good!
Also used to listen to Arcade Fire, but it's been a freaking long time. Might start listening to it again.
