Saw them at the Big Up in New York last year. What an awesome F*CKIN festival that was...I saw EOTO for the first time there, too. Blew my mind apart.

Not really my cup of tea. Didn't really hear a beat in it, and questioned myself if it was even dubstep until I heard it at the very end.

The point of dubsteap is for the wubwubwub. If you take that out than your just listening to some variation of electronic music; house, trance, Drum and bass., etc

Re: Check out this shit if you like clean dubstep
Pretty much... it needs to have a two-step beat or an offbeat really... typically about 140bpm.. that isn't 140bpm. That's like 160 or something because it's a drum n bass line.

RonBurgandy wrote: i didnt know music culd be critqued so professionally. How did you figure out 90 BPM? Acid wasn't really wrong, it could be in 180 (160 is close enough for a guess without a metronome). The thing is, when you determine if it's going to be in sixteenth notes, 8 notes, or quarter notes is all about the phrasing (sorry if it's not the right term). It's all about finding the repeating pattern, and breaking it. How fast the theme is played also changes the way to play a song. Let's say you're going to play triple subdivision or higher, you won't play them in sixteenth notes, it's going to be in quarter, 8 max because it's barely visible and readable if it has to be played fast. So it depends a lot on the song's speed and theme. You can hear at 3:01 a ("sax") playing, it swings, but without having the whole song swinging like jazz. It's basically the second and fourth sixteenth notes giving a swing feeling to the solo. Actually Tommy's not wrong, but it would be more logical to be counted in 90bpm sixteenth notes than in 180 8notes. It's, for some reason, one of my hobbies to try to find the bpm in every song I hear. But there again, that was way not the goal of this thread to find out how beats per minute were played in the song hahaha, I love it though. Good find!
