Same with me. I haven't used a mouse pad for about 4-5 months now. When I did have one that was when I actually had problems om the mouse getting caught and such. But now that it is just on the desk I seem to not have any problems.

I have an optical mouse but I still use a mousepad. I have been using the same Microsoft Optical Intellimouse for ages. Great F*CKING mouse, but I also use one of those new Icemat pads. That thing is F*CKING expensive, but its also a F*CKING great mousepad.

It's a really smooth, hard plastic material. It feels sort of like glass, but it's not as delicate.

No. They are glass. Its a glass pad with a black interior for superior tracking for optical lasers. The pads come with grip tape for the bottom and for the mouse itself. https://www.icemat.com/shop/default.asp?main=products

Is an ice pad worth getting? Or just a normal $5 mousepad I dont use high sensitivity... I just want it so I dont scratch up the bottom of my mouse and hit the table.

The run of the mill mouse pad will do anyone fine. If your looking to go all out though and have some money too splurge the Icemat and SteelPads are the way to go.
