Just wondering, how do you take a screenshot of a website or desktop or anything like that.

Press 'printscreen' right above your insert key, to the right of your F12 key. Then, take it into your graphics program (i.e. MSPaint) and press 'ctrl+v' or go to 'edit->paste'

Yeah, do that if you want just an actual screenshot (i.e. everything on the screen, including open windows, desktop, toolbar, etc.)

If you want to just take a picture of the open window, use alt+printscreen and then ctrl+v.

and i followed the directions by using the command and it doesn't work

any ideas as to why?

Yes, it's a funny punch in the nose but some people can't afford the time or the bandwidth to download forum pages that include 5 megs of silly pictures.

I haven't checked yet, but your gif file is probably in violation of some size rule for signature files. Try a smaller file and see if it works.

There's a problem on all forums skins where if you use the "User" button at the top and go to "My Info" to access the signature edit, it will not show up because it's only utilizing HTML code in that box. You'll need to go to the profile link in the actual message board to edit the signature for it to work.
