So, what you're saying is that when people play violent video games, they in turn become violent? I mean...I don't know about you guys, but I don't go around with a seven story tall machine with guns mounted on it and rain death and destruction down upon innocent civillians....unless someone can point me in the direction of a seven story tall machine with guns mounted on it....

it's been statistically shown that people who do play violent video games do end up more agressive and violent after playing them, and kids respond to them. it really does depend on the person but i think people are starting to use "violent" games as a scapegoat to explain some of the violence. but to say games don't influence kids would be ridiculous, the most distinct memory i have (even though it's a little different from violence and CS) would be right after tony hawk came out, how the popularity of skateboarding and anything related it to it skyrocketed.

judas priest saying "DO IT" and some kid killing himself then blaming rob halford is probably on the same scale as video games, but "DO IT" could have been a ton of things (i think halford's example was, "what if i wanted DO IT to mean brush your teeth?") but when you see a guy lite up an entire city block with an ak, that's a pretty direct message.

I hate to say it, and maybe I'm getting older but it's all a crock of shite. I have played video games as long as there has been video games to play AND I'm a huge heavy/death metal fan. However somehow I haven't a violent bone (well maybe one) in my body. Hell I'm not even all that drawn to the horror flicks like I used to be. Violent games haven't done nothing but give me a mild case of carpal tunnel. They are just an easy excuse for dumbass people.

Idiots should not be allowed to procreate.

Any "study" can tell you anything you want it to if you ask the right questions or look at the right numbers. Parents have to teach kids that pain hurts, dead is dead, and what you do will come back to you.

In short, neuter idiots and throw their parents in jail to keep our streets safe.

People are dumb. There's always going to be some HOMOSEXUAL out there that'll try to challenge the 'system' by doing something incrediably (sp?) rash and try to blame something just so they can get away with it.

It's total bullshit that 'people' can be so stupid.

it has also been shown that pepole who play fps games can switch tasks easier :)

its all an excuse for bad parenting. like i said a while ago kids will commit crimes, robberies, murders, fights, ect ect ect. they did it 50 years ago before video games so yea. but if the kid just so happened to play video games its all the games fault. never mind the years of shitty parenting.

which leads me to my next point. if everyone does whats in the video games, or games in general. and since most everyone has played monopoly, why arnt we all filthy rich money bags?

gg shitty parents

I've played violent games since I was 9. If you don't believe me, ask Gman, lol that's when I met him. I'm almost 15 now. I've never once hurt anybody or anything intentionally. I say people who get all violent and shit because of video games are psychopathic.

Example:

Basically. Video games now are trying to provide a realistic environment such as one you would see in life. Take GTA... A kid plays GTA, then dodges the cops, even after they continue to search for something. Imagine this kid is poorer than most, and he needs a little money to buy something for his girlfriend or see a movie. "What if I just kicked this guy to death when nobody else was around?" That's one step closer to actually doing it. Since he saw it in the video game, it would be phreaking pwnage if he actually did it and told his friends he was just like the GTA guy. then there's violence.

This is an extreme case. I agree with those mothers that video games do increase violence, but very slightly. And the people who buy these games are rich and don't need to do these crimes...
