Ok. so Sat. night my laptop got stole from my room while i was sleeping.. so all that im asking is that if u see someone playing CS under my name. ask them what kind of system they are on. if they say a SONY VAIO FS645. then they are probably on mine. and see where they are playing from and such. I got to southern Illinois University in Carbondale.. try to get as much info as you can so i can catch this F*CKING porch monkey

Yeah, it sucks but seeing him on isn't gonna do anything...if he just stole a laptop he's probably not going to be talking about where he is or anything. I would just try to salvage whatever you spend on steam games by changing the password.

If the laptop got stolen from a university.. more than likely they will be using the university connection too.. then it would be hard to track down the IP...

No not really. If the person lives in a residential setting on campus, many schools use static IP addy's. The addys are assigned depending on where you live on their campus.

~EDIT~ That's assuming they're on a wired connection...wireless could get more complicated unless you have tha MAC of the pc.

1. This individual is real scary. He prob stole the LT to sell for drug money.

2. If he kept it to play the game with he might even be smart enough to change his game name.

3. Can someone get your SteamID from a previous game and ban his ass from playing on the servers? I know this reduces the chances of catching him but those chances are slim.

4. Does Sony, like IBM, have a method that they can send a command to an online machine and lock it down?

5. If you could remember your IP address, and this numb nut has connection to the university network his IP address will be the same. Same is true if he has the same ISP. Where am I going with this you ask. I have a background in Network Security. Get me his IP address if you can or, and I know you don't have this, or his MAC address. You should be able to get your MAC address from Sony if you have any paperwork that they need to show you bought the LT from them. Get it to me and I can find him when he goes online and track him to a location on your school network by his this address. I will be home all weekend. Which is when he will most likely play, get the MAC addres and I will locate which switch and or router he is on and you can have campus security nail his ass.

BTW, a MAC address is a UNIQUE identifier and no two computers in the entire world have the same one.

i know what a MAC addresss is.. i never took my laptops ip or mac address though. i dont remeber it. so i kinda screwed myself over there

You can get your MAC address sometimes by getting on the Sony website and entering an asset tag info or calling them and providing proof that it is your LT. They are real good about providing that info.

Let me know if I can help. I know it is a bitch using someone elses pc to get this but just think of the pain the numb nuts will feel when you knock on his door with the campus police and then you kick him in the balls.
