I've spent well over 6 grand in my system (I know, that's a lot... but for those who are interested in building or buying a new PC, I wanted to brag a bit and show off the responsiveness of my system with its 12GB RAM and its sheer processing power. The multitasking I do is insane, check in sometime, or come hang with me in Ventrilo while you watch the stream. Have no problem showing examples of video encoding/audio encoding or mapping/etc for you to check out. Also, it's a good way to check up on me and see what I'm currently working on at the time. 6 grands? cpu 1k, mogo 500, vga 500, ram (12G) 300, psu ~200, other components next 1k max. Did you spend 2k on golden computer case?

two cases, 400 on the case, 100 on webcam. 250 for the new monitor. Been through three mice/keyboards. Bought four external hard drives. Two video cards, one at 400, the other at 499. 3 Different X-fi sound cards, Sennheiser PC350 headset was 250. Mousepad 30. 2x 300gb velociraptors $300 a piece. Glad I didn't pay for the OS, that would have been another $400 for Ultimate version. I did buy Vista when it came out and that cost me around 200 for Ultimate.

Keep in mind all this shit was bought when the technology was new, so I payed top dollar for it. Most of the prices have dropped significantly now.

I just wanted a rig that could do anything I wanted. Return lost puppies to their owners, shoot missiles, etc.

I'd say about 1500 of that was replacement parts here and there.

I just successfully installed my new 120GB OCZ 2.5" SATA 3 SSD and holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy shit does this thing run F*CKING fast!! Faster then Luff through a box of chocolates!!! I highly recommend the upgrade to SSD, it is damn worth it!

I'd like to know more about your SSD upgrade. Are you using it for your OS only?

for SSD - i got this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820148348. It's enough to have OS, CS:S, portal 1&2, tf2, few other games, VS 2010, TFS2010, MS SQL express 2008 R2, and other 20+ apps/utilities installed and I still have about 40% free space. I have all music, video, docs and other static content on my backup drives. So far it works sweet for me.

Putting games on SSD isn't really worth it unless you have enough space, or if you really want your games to just load fast (since the only improvement will be when loading levels/maps). Any program that does a lot of hard disk read/write would definitely benefit a lot.

Out of curiosity, what type of cooling system do you have in your rig?

Fans. I don't need water cooling because the case is extremely large. Maybe one day I'll do something like that, but I have no overheating issues as of now.
