This is a little motivational speech for Ashley and Korg (and also because I can't sleep :( ).

If you want to boost your skill level and if you don't like scrimming or doesn't have the time for it, there are a few things you can do.

Here is the most important rule. Do not fear death in-game. Whether you are facing a skilled opponent or surrounded by the entire opposing team, do not panic and do not fear. Go out there and do your best. Always remember this golden rule. You have to train yourself to get rid of the natural reaction of hiding when you face overwhelming odds. This will help you with it. The time for tactical retreat will be later, once you have mastered aiming.

The next most important rule is to master aiming. Don't use fancy weapons. Stick to one or two handguns (Desert Eagle is a must), and the AK & M4 (depending on which side you are on). Master them. Aim only for the head/neck unless they are right in front of you. Take your time and aim. Do not shoot while moving. Do not spray unless they are right infront of you. Mastery of the spray will come later, once you have good aim.

The 3rd most important rule is this.

a) Do not rush headfirst into enemy territory by yourself.
b) Do not go the same way every round.

If there is a rush, do not be the first one to do so. Right now you should not be playing the hero (and dying in 5 seconds). You can do it and have fun doing it (and killing a whole bunch of enemies) eventually, once you feel like you are good enough to handle tough situations.

Strafing is important, but the only thing you have to remember here is that you should not shoot while you are strafing. You will not master this one. No one will. No matter how good you are at it, you are the mercy of pure luck most of the time because a complete newbie who cannot aim well can shoot in random directions at end up killing you, just as an experienced player.

Always join the hard side (T on aztec, CT on Italy etc). It will force you to think and adapt to survive. Even if you are on the hard side, if your team is winning easily, switch to the other round. Make things hard for you.

Choose a hard target, and do everything you can to kill them. Note the top 5 or 10 players here and make note of them. Hunt them down in game. You will die a lot, but every time you die, you gain experience, not matter how small. You will observe patterns in their game play. You will observe and learn how they shoot, strafe and deal with tough situations. Try to emulate their best tactics and gameplay, and once you have good aim, you will develop your own style. Try to play as much as you can whenever people like Tucker, State, Das, Shin, Mang etc. are playing and hunt them down (you will die most of the time, but your time will come).

All of this takes time. Play every single day, and don't play for an easy win. If anyone tells you you are not going to get any good by just playing in pubs, don't listen. You are not going to be called a hax0r overnight. Stop worrying about when it will happen and just do this and have fun. You will be good before you know it.

Yes, this is guaranteed to boost your skill and in time, will make you good enough to hang in there with the best of us in the pub. You won't stand a chance against them in a match or scrim, but a scrim/match setting is an entirely different universe. Don't think that you will be better than them. After all, they play competitively and regularly play matches against high level players. That kind of skill and experience cannot be matched no matter how good you are playing in a pub. However, in time, you just might be able to go toe to toe with them in a straight battle.

Oh, I know how to play the game. I've just had SHIT aim for the last year because I stopped playing competitively and then took a break from the game. I'm getting my skill back though. It's just taking time ;)

Pubbers are generally looked down upon by the elite of CS as "pubstars". While they are correct, it is also true that there is more than one path to get really good at this game (but not in a competitive setting).

I just dont see how people could truly care about how good they are in CS/actually care about their KDR

It's the same reason why some people want to hit the level cap in an MMO/rpg :)

I'm guessing you've never been an athlete even as a kid? It's called being competitive. Most people who are competitive(like myself) Want to be the best at everything they do. I'm a gamer, I want to be the best gamer. When I was an athlete I always gave it my all to be the best. I'm a musician, I want to be the best. See a pattern? That is why we care about how good we are.

Listen to what reborn says, and the best way to learn to aim is rapid fire playing, meaning deathmatch. Pick a gun, use only that gun. Be that gun's master. I can't use an m4, but if you give me an AK chances are I'll be pretty good.

Wow reborn, thank you for typing all of that up. I'm going to have to break myself away from not wanting to die all the time. I hate when Hito's computer starts lagging on me so I get frustrated and dont want to die for nothing so I go easy team. I honestly think it is stress and the reality that I'm going to be out of highschool and leaving all of my friends is bothering me. Well I'll try it out but don't be mad if u see me on the easy side for a bit :(
