Post Re: n00bfest East Coast Extravaganza!
So I went ahead and started a thread on the Fulda Gap forums starting the process to get our team on either Spec Ops or Spetsnaz. It is located here:

http://www.milsimempire.com/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=9575

Also, according to the site, we must all be registered on our appropriate teams/forces no later than October 31, and that is cutting it WAYYYY too close. Most teams and forces were full-up by mid September. So I'm going to have to say that we'll need to be absolutely positive what our team looks like by July and no later... just to be sure. August will be a time for hardcore preparations.

Just so everyone knows, this is the base shirt we're using for the jerseys.

I'm pretty interested in this. I'm in VA and have a gun i used to use way back in the day (Tippman 98) but I have no idea how I would get there because i dont have a car with me up here at college. Would anyone be passing through possibly?

If you do decide to roll into Atlanta, hit me up and we might be able to work a carpool arrangement out.

Post Re: n00bfest East Coast Extravaganza!
Are you planning on camping there, Strange? Have you read the rules they have for camping on their site? If you haven't, here they are...

Code:

Camping area information

We have areas designated for camping. We encourage camping, but it will be primitive camping (no showers or electricity). There are additional rules regarding camping that must be followed for safety and an enjoyable experience.

This is a family field and event, so no PROFANITY please. We expect everyone to act in an appropriate manner. Remember, families with their children are present, and we are all here to have a good time.

Drinking of Alcohol will not be allowed anywhere on the field or the public areas. Any types of illegal drugs are forbidden. If you become intoxicated, or are found using drugs of any kind, you will be arrested by the local authorities.

Other prohibited items include knives, bayonets, firearms, laser sights, swastikas, crossbows, slingshots, BB guns, airsoft guns, air horns, fireworks (except approved smoke grenades), unbreakable tripwires (such as piano wire), or shields of any kind are allowed on the field of play. Any device (such as an Allen wrench) that can be used to adjust the velocity of a marker is strictly prohibited on the field of play. NO BRIGHT YELLOW, OR ORANGE shirts are allowed on the field.

Please respect your neighbors, and keep any music or noise to a tolerable level. No noise (including generators) or bright lights will be allowed after 22:00 in the campsites.

DO NOT go into ANY CAMPSITE other than your own, unless someone is there, and you are invited. Theft will not be tolerated in any way, shape, or form. You WILL BE ARRESTED if you break the law. Camp security will be tight. There will be law enforcement on duty at all times.

ONCE AGAIN- NO FIREARMS, WEAPONS, OR KNIVES (other than pocket knives) ARE ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES AT ANY TIME. Cooking knives are allowed in your CAMPSITE FOR COOKING PURPOSES ONLY. Do not wear a sheath knife around the camping/vending area for any reason please.

Camp fires will be permitted only if a fire ring is used. There will be a lot of dead wood on the grounds, but it burns fast, and we recommend bringing some charcoal, and or some greener wood. There will be no cutting down of live trees!

Camping is allowed starting Thursday night until Monday morning. Here are some camping rules and guidelines:

No firing markers anywhere in the camping area, wet or dry!
Use the Tech area for marker repair.
This includes firing from the camping area into the playing area.
Absolutely no drugs or firearms. There will be law enforcement on site and they will arrest. We do not condone underage drinking and we don't care to have people on our property that do.
No alcohol in the common areas of camp or in public.
No glass bottles in camp.
Try to camp near your unit and fill in space around it.
Respect other player"s campsites. Try to walk around if you can.
Only take up the space you need.
Attempt to park near roads or thruways and do not park in prime camping space.
Dispose of garbage in the proper location.
Respect your fellow campers. This means, turning down the loud music, voices, and/or generators at 2200 HRS (10:00 PM). Watch the schedule for times on noise ordinances. Remember, this is a residential neighborhood that lets us do these events. Let's not tick them off?
When using the restroom facilities, be sure to clean up after yourself.
There are no hot showers, however a cold shower is available to the brave.
There are no RV hookups, however there is a flat space dedicated for RV parking.
No paintball tanks in the camping area. They need to park by a road or on Tanker Row.
If you have any questions, see the camp and vendor support staff.
If you build a campfire, you MUST use a fire ring. Please don't cut down live trees for firewood.

PETS:

As much as we would like, there will be no pets allowed at the game, even in the campsites.

Each unit has been assigned a camping area which helps each respective commander with accountability of players.

http://www.fuldagap.com/RulesCamping.shtml is the link to said rules. Count me in on this too, also my daughter. We'll be ready for this! I'll have to buy all this paintballing stuff to get ready, but I have plenty of time to do it.

Also, I like Omegas jersey idea, I think we should all have matching jerseys, it'd be pimp! I could probably buy a few shirts if people aren't able to afford them. PM me if you would like for me to buy you a jersey.

Ahem, I'll probably be getting a hotel room btw - since the wife and daughter are coming out. Don't want them getting raped on the campground, lulz.

Actually, I can act pretty decorous when I'm in public situations. (esp. around kids not of my loins) In a private setting is where you have to worry about me showing balls and sausages, heh.

The more I've been reading about this, the more awesome it's getting. This trip/event is gonna cost me a buttload of cash, but I think it's gonna be fun as all get out! Can't wait! I'm gonna do some conditioning so I'm not an old worn out fat bastard when the time comes, heh.

Oh, double post, but it had to be said...

So I checked the Fulda Gap forum and I found the following message from the commander of NATO forces:

Message subject: Re: Question regarding special forces/spetsnaz registration
From: Iron Man
Sent: Tue Feb 15, 2011 9:29 am
To: Omega
Message
As the Commander of the NATO forces in the Fulda Gap game, I would like you to consider joining our cause in Nov.
Even though we have a team in place to run our SF's it does not have the personel to fill it.
A team of your size would fit nicely in this role. If you have an interest in this please contact me and I will direct you for this assignment.
We also have a couple of other good positions available for the game. Don't count these out, the NATO side of the game is one of non stop action. With the exception of last year, many troops on the Warsaw side find themselves gaurding ground that never gets attacked. It is just the nature of the game.

The choice is really pretty easy. If you like to play on a side where they have a numerical advantage, go with Warsaw. If you like to sling paint all day long and feel like your back is to the wall in a do or die firefight go with NATO. The victory is sweeter on our side knowing what we overcame.
Larry " Iron Man " Rivenbark

This was my response:

Ironman,

Even though we are technically still filling positions for our team (Team n00bfest is our name, even though we aren't newbies), our count is quite good at this point in time. At the moment we have 12 confirmed members of our team that will be showing up, and we expect several more to confirm, if not more. Even though a few of these members are from different states, we fully expect no less than 12 to 15 (of course, emergencies do come up). I've spoken with a few of my teammates and the general feeling is that we'd like and be ready for a do-or-die fight such as the one we had last year. That is why we'd like a spot on NATO SF. The victory was indeed sweeter and it will be again this year. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions or concerns.

Jordan "Omega" Peterson

As of right now I have to take my name off the list for the fact I don't know if I will be alive in Nov. But if you feel you don't need to take me off until I don't show up after March then that's cool too. Just giving you a heads up. Again reading this is getting me excited too and wanting me to survive.

Got approval from the wife...barring unforeseen circumstances I will be there along with my son Colin who will be 15 by then. We will likely be flying in, so if there are folks who have cars we could use a ride from the airport so I don't have to rent a car.

I'll have one! Driving down should get use there by Thursday evening. We'll likely stay somewhere in Hickory, we haven't really decided on lodgings yet. Lemme know and maybe we can get hooked up at the same place so we can have a few while we're there.

I've done some research on this area and it looks like it's bible belt to the max...so drinking will probably be frowned upon. We're n00bs though, we're allowed! GAH!
