A breif history of counter strike...
Someone asked me how long Iv been playing.. so I thought, screw it. Rather than repeat myself over and over, Ill just post it.....
I first started playing CS when it was released as a Half Life mod Way back when the wheel was still a new and great idea. That first one had a great intro and tutorial voiced by some australian guy. I played on a ripped off Serial Number (Shhhh! dont tell anyone) so in order to play, once on a server you didnt log off. Otherwise someone else with that ID would log in.. hehe.
So I spent a really long time on a cool server that was run by SMK. After a few weeks I got my own copy of Half Life and my very own Serial Number!. I eventualy got recruited into SMK and became part of the scrim team (back when i actualy "Played"). Eventualy working my way upto seinior admin and server admin.
But, slowly the clan died a slow and painful death and the regular members went off and had kids, blah blah blah... At that point I split my time between CSs, DODs and BF2. Which eventulay got rolled into the SMK clan in hopes of expanding the group. But eventualy we called it quits and just closed it down.
God, I remeber the days of seinior admin... not easy!. especialy since it was a PG server!.
So there ya go.. Iv been playing CS on and off for far to F*CKING long!. I no longer take it seriously, its just a game.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
My history of Cs
I began pc gaming in 2006: previous to this i had console games strictly because my parents still ran a pentium III 600Mhz on a pc with 64Mb of ram and a 12Gb hardrive (yes there are pc's worse than Luff's Out there) at first it was free mmofps's such as combat arms.warrock,etc.
2008: i began looking for a good Fps game that would challenge my skill??(rofl) and began looking at reviews of counter-strike/counter-strike source. I had a rough freshman year of high school so i became more invested in gaming and less about the outside world.
2009: in late winter-Early spring of 2009 I bought css and was simply amazed from the start. At 1st i played Dm and GG. I played on a small server called legit-gaming for a small bit. But the clan soon disbanded due to the head admin stealing other members steam accounts HE WAS AN ASS!! I joined up with another small GG clan. I also began playing more traditional game modes on popular maps like office,dust2,inferno etc.
mid 2009- I joined TpG and played frequently on there office server That summer consisted of Weed and css LOL
late 2009-I left Tpg and bounced around a bit
AND NOW THE TORTURE OF n00bfest BEGINS!!!
Late 2009-2010: I first played on a n00b server the second day of my new laptop (old POS now since uodate) I remeber LuffWaffle ,Deadman Bleep, Me, Rage, and eventually I met ======> KANO<===== remeber him distinctivly due to his raging.
I continued to play here while slowly diminishing my high school GPA...........I was finally accepted into n00b in april.
That summer i did nothing but css and scrim with n00bfest. I improved 10 fold but still suck...LOL.......
August 23 2010- I ACED .420 in a Bc vs 420 match.......This is my only ace to this day And my proudest moment in css so far besides my acception into n00bfest.
Current- I am an active member and scrimmer in n00bfest all be it a descent one at best. I continue to play on n00bfest servers and enjoy it .. I cant see me leaving this community.
So yeah If you have read this far TY if not GO F*CK URSELF .......LOL JK.

My history of CS:
I bought CZ back in 2004, Thanksgiving time-frame, and found a server called Southern Alabama n00bfest. Since I was in Pensacola, FL at the time, I thought it would be fun to try out a server near me. The rest is history. I still suck at this game, six years later.

I have another account that's a 6dig. Played occasional 1.5/6 on that. Sucked Dick at it. Didn't come back to Cs until a year and a halfish ago.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
Umm I got CS in early 03 on 1.5 I think it was played on that for a while on random servers. Then I got CZ in 04 and started off playing in the CAKD servers older members remember them lol played there for I don't know like 4-5 months then I found n00bfest and switched over to here I think in Dec of 04 like 5-6 months before I actually ever made a forum account here. Then applied here and had to wait like a 6 month waiting period as a recruit before I was accepted into n00b and I have been here ever sense through me joining the navy and deploying and plan to be here after. I started playing CSS late because I was on deployment when they switched the server from a cz server to CSS well when I left I think we had a iceworld CSS server but that was just for testing and I think there was only a couple of us who actually owned CSS. That's my counter-strike life story. I am a n00b for life. Also like Joe I still suck at this game.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
The following is my epic tale of CS. It is dedicated to the in-game memory of fsb.burntpowder, [FORD] Escort, [FORD] falcon, dwt.tr0wa, fsb.ou812, fsb.pubstar and fsb.grifter.
In 2002, I was in NY and got a cheap HP computer, and since I gave away my original HL to a friend, the first thing I did was buy a retail copy of Counterstrike. Sometime in July 2002 I started playing Counterstrike online (I think it was 1.4 or 1.5 at this time) for the first time.
I randomly selected a server to play. It was called FORD server. I played for a bout an hour and got about 2 kills in that entire hour. I returned there the next day and played for a couple of hours without much improvement. The people who played there were very skilled. So I kept playing there.
Days became weeks, and weeks became months. To my own surprise,I was really good at this game by that point. I watched the experts play and learned from them. I watched countless tutorials on aiming and decided to focus everything on just one factor - aiming. I was playing for several hours every single day at the server, and I was invited to be an official member of team FSB (Ford Server's Best). Thus, the legend of fsb.heretic was born.
I rose through the ranks to become the highest level admin, and a co-captain of the team. I became very good friends with my fellow fsb mates, all of whom were much older than me and much more skilled than me. They helped me become really good at the game as a result of playing the game with them all the time.
Eventually, I saw the rise of STEAM and people were changing from won to STEAM. We held on for a long time and made the switch when it was not optional anymore. Although I was never into scrims and competitive gaming because I wanted to be a lone wolf rather than a team player who follows orders, I joined my fellow FSBs in OGL East Advanced 5v5 and 2v2, and enjoyed the little tournaments which we never took seriously.
Then CS 1.6 came out and though we all hated the changes, we stood by it out of loyalty. We also unanimously decided not to ever touch CZ when it came out, because for us it was just CS with bots. To this day I've upheld that promise.
Around 2005 or 2006, my team members all lost interest in CS and just slowly faded out from CS (they were all middle aged and had real life and family to take care of), leaving me to question my future. I still miss all of them, and I tried to contact them many times but I've lost their contact info along the way. I hope that they are enjoying their lives somewhere out there.
FORD server was dead now. The website was gone. The team members all retired from CS. fsb.Heretic became plain old Heretic, and I wanted to find a CS home. I hopped from server to server, getting banned left and right because I was accused of hax. Although I took it as a complement, I still needed a home.
At this point, CS:S came out and was doing quite well at this time, but I refused to make the switch out of blind loyalty to 1.6. After all my friends retired from gaming, 1.6 had nothing to offer me. I played at a server called Motel California for a little while until I was banned from there.
So I made the switch to Source, to explore new territories. I eventually found Hardmud server, getting admin abused and banned instantly. I complained on their forums and was met with a lot of support from veteran HM players. It became my new home. Life was good, until the CS population of HMA vanished almost completely, followed by the death of the server.
It was time to find a new home. In late 2006, while Hardmud was dying, I started playing in other servers every now and then in search of a good regular server. By chance I played a couple of times in n00bfest, and it was nothing special. It was packed, had a mix of skilled and low level players, and accusations of hax were prominent as usual.
Once Hardmud died, I started playing exclusively on n00bfest. I didn't want to make any friends. All I wanted to do was be the best, and kill everyone in my way, though I did make a few friendly conversations with some regulars. The 3 names from my earliest n00bfest days I remember are JoeMamma, DocWonder and Apokolypse (the latter two being my favorite victims). I didn't have any interaction with Gman during that time.
Joe was my arch nemesis, and our battles are the stuff of legend. After getting abused, kicked and banned by many admins (99% of it by Joe), I was eventually perma banned. I posted an unban request, and the hate and burn in that thread is also of legendary proportions. I played in other servers after that, and it was just no fun. I had come to know the regulars of n00bfest and I enjoyed playing with people I even remotely know, than total strangers.
I tried playing in n00bfest again and seeing that I wasn't banned anymore, so I kept playing until Joe (probably without knowing that I was Heretic) became my arch nemesis yet again. This time, I was banned left and right a few times and finally perma banned by Corpse sometime in late 2007. At this point I had enough and found a new home in Stompfest server, and played almost exclusively on their gungame server. I became a regular and made a few friends, but saw the server die after a few months.
After taking a long break from CS (time spent exclusively on MMOs), I returned to CS but out of all my CS homes, only n00bfest remained. I did not want to play on random servers so I returned to n00bfest again, since I did not seem to be banned. This was my home server no matter who didn't like me here, and I played every day for hours and hours, making more friends than enemies. I even started to grow on Joe, which was the equivalent of there being snow in the Sahara.
After playing without getting perma banned for a long time, I decided that I should make it completely official that I am a part of n00bfest, and applied for membership, becoming a n00b after a few months, at one time becoming a member of the Council and even one of the admins.
Thus began the legend of [n00b] Reborn. I am not anywhere near as passionate about CS as I used to be, but my passion for the community cannot get any bigger. My passion for kdr went from "it is all that matters" to "not worth anything" as I matured, and I am a little disappointed that I am nowhere near as good as I used to be.
Ever since I was hit with wrist tendonitis (I thought I would never be able to play CS again), my reflexes have slowed and it is now utterly impossible for me to hang in there with the top players of n00bfest no matter how hard I try, but I have fun every time I play here. It is physically impossible for me to rage no matter how many times I die or how unlucky I get, simply because of the community.
tl;dr
CS was the first online game I ever played. I've played this game for a very long time, and I have been loyal to it from the moment I started playing. n00bfest is my CS home, and despite some initial problems with some of the high level admins and even the then owner at one time, it's the home I always returned to. And I'm still here :)
Yes, I know it was long. And yes, I was bored at work.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
I present to you a history of my CS career and n00bfest in general!
Started playing CS a long ass time ago -- back around 1.3 or something like that. Only played on LAN because I had dial-up.
Strange went to Alabama for a summer and started playing online. It was 1.5 at the time. He joined a server called "Southern Alabama CS 1.5" which was run by the [WhtTrsh] clan and pretty much played nonstop. He called me and convinced me to come play w/ him even though I was on dial-up, so I did.
I started playing CS regularly, and eventually joined [WhtTrsh] with Kano and CorpseHumper (and a few other folks like DeputyDog). [WhtTrsh] OfficerDoofy shut the server down, and then Kano and a few others started hosting it if my memory serves me correctly. Eventually, it went down entirely and CorpseHumper set up his "Southern Alabama n00bfest" server. There was no official "clan" to speak of -- we all just sorta put on random tags and played. I created the K&C clan (Koolaid and Chicken). If you look at the member's list of this forum, some of the first members were my K&C guys like Pandaman, icmp, and cab.
The n00bfest server was run from CorpseHumper's house at first, and it was really a laggy piece of shit... but we all had fun there. 7 players, baby! Admin was given out to regulars (like me) and we communicated through email. That was when I still had a hotmail account, lol.
Anyway, I talked to CorpseHumper about how we needed a website and forum to manage all of this, and he agreed. He purchased some webspace and the domain "CorpseHumper.com" (which is now forwarded to a nonexistant myspace account, but used to get you here). I set up a website with a very obnoxious blood-red theme and a picture of Corpse with an asian hat on -- it was pretty ridiculous. Let's see how many folks remember THAT!
After we decided the website looked really gay and obnoxious, I switched it up to something very similar to what you see today. Corpse and I ran n00bfest.com for a long time, and some of the regulars got together -- those who had tagged up with [SANF] -- and decided that we go by [n00b] since it makes a lot more sense. We also put together a process for joining our tight-knit community and it's still very similar to the process you see in place today, except the council didn't exist; it was something I created in 2006 or so, right before I got banned from n00bfest and stripped of my power.
Gman banned from n00bfest?! Yep. It happened. After we switched over to CZ and everything was running fine, I started butting heads with folks mainly due to the fact that I was 18 at the time, with no real leadership experience outside n00bfest. I got into an argument with one of the members over some trivial shit and, in a rage, shut down the ventrilo server, gameservers, and temporarily disabled the website as a show of "power." Corpse found out about it and kicked my ass out -- which I deserved. I started my own little clan and we mainly played BF2 together, but it fizzled because I was working a full-time job and didn't have the time to balance everything properly.
After a couple different webmasters at n00bfeset and a couple different websites, I returned to n00bfest to find it in an almost dying state. CorpseHumper wasn't active anymore, nor were most of the Elders. BulletCatcher and Genocide pretty much kept the thing running in his absence, and this place needs more people at the helm than 2 folks with already-busy lives. Donations were meager, there was very little subclan activity, the council had several inactive members, and there were tons of inactive admins.
I talked with CorpseHumper about the situation and volunteered to take over n00bfest for him and turn it into the well-oiled machine it once was. He agreed, and we made a deal. I took over n00bfest and started making changes. I promoted new Elders, and put inactive Elders in the "Ancient" position. I picked up Fomenta to help me out with some of the tech projects around here -- he's been an asset ever since. I audited all of the admins, and promoted several new ones. We re-organized the ranking structure, moved the gameserver to a better dedicated box running a better oprating system on a better network. That was in July or so of 2009. The new website rolled out in August, and ever since then we've never missed our donation goal. Complaints of admin abuse are down. Morale is up. Membership is up. Forum activity is up. n00bfest is back in full swing!

@ Gman:
That's cause we're not limited to one game. We're a community that has roots in one game, but we definitely allow for game ADD, it's nice when I get bored of CS to be like alright, who wants to go touch butts in another game? (BC2, L4D2, I know some people play WoW) we're just a bunch of like minded gamers. It's pretty solid.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
Started playing CZ in 2005 and n00bfest was the first server I joined. Signed up 2 weeks later. Pubbed around for a while and then started scrimming with Ocelot, roffle, random hero, agentgrape and the greatest n00bfest member of all time, Dr. Pepper in the EqL subclan. EqL died out when they all started playing WoW. After that I started spending most of my CZ time in the Iceworld server and that's when I started playing with the PSA crew. They had just cut half the team (the LOL Spyda vs Jay Bizzle power struggle that Crayola made into a bigger deal than it really was). Back then it was Spyda, HeadShot, Lunch Box, Deepslit, Rajun Cajun and myself. After a couple of terrible seasons where we missed the playoffs, we started calling strats and became the most hated team in CZ.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
Back in 2002 I began playing Day of defeat after my buddy begged me because the game had a k98 and it was ww2.I hopped around here and there till I found the Raptor clan. It wasnt alot of people, maybe 10ish, but it was damn fun all the time. I got pretty good at the game focusing on The STG44 assault class and the knife....thats right the knife. There was 5 guys from the clan on all the time and all of us would sneak around like ninhas in the shadows trying to knife eachother. It got to the point where 45-10 knife only games (dropped my gun and shot my pistol ammo so I was forced) were regular.
After awhile we decided to move on to Cal and did pretty good for a while. none of could take it seriously due to me having soccer pretty much every night and them having jobs. Sadly though our fearless leader is presumed to have died in hurricane Katrina. He was in contact with us in his car with his family when suddenly mid conversation he cut out. We never heard from him again. Even tried his cell and it was unreachable. RIP Robin.
After Raptor collapsed due to those events I moved on to CSS with my buddy [Raptor] Lonewolf. I played for about 6 months barely making it by until I really started to get a hang of it. I joined RTR which was so F*CKING fun and was one of the better servers I had been on. after about 6 months for some reason the entire CSS community collapsed. No one was around no one was responding. nothing. So I moved on, hopped around, and found you lovely mofos. Im having a great time here and id like to say thanks to everyone for that.

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
I started playing back in 2003 when my best friend from HS got me playing Delta Force and CS. Played for a little bit with him but i was going to college from 0700-1500 everyday and working from 1700-0300 (@ McDonalds). When i wasn't working i was getting drunk haha. So I played here and there, picked up CZ and played that for a little bit. Meet my wife back in Jan '05 and then i really stopped playing as much. Enlisted in the USMC in Jan 06 was gone to bootcamp for 4 months and ended up in 29 palms CA. That's when i REALLY got hooked again. Picked up HL and it came with a copy of CSS ( only reason i bought the game haha). I ended up playing it everyday and sometimes for 12 hours on the weekend. Found a community called UNBU. Meet a lot of really cool people there, so I still talk to today. Ended up getting admin and getting higher in the community. While i was playing there i got real big in competitive play. Played a lot of CAL and OGL but we never really took it seriously. Tried to do the whole lets call strats thing but we all had ADD and ended up just running around shooting each other during "practice." Then TF2 came out and the community split. Regulars started disappearing and then main guy that was funding everything stopped playing as much. So i offered to step up and was running the place for a while. Running the forums and the servers but the hit from TF2 was so bad that the community just died. This is were n00bfest comes in. I was with a "clan" called #REvamped, some people here may remember us haha. I went by Thanatos #REvamped, still have that account registered on the forums haha. I remember i was banned for TKing ( no you know why im such a dick about TKers haha) and after i got banned the other members of the clan came in causing all kinds of shit which in turn got all Revamped guys banned on site. One of the main guys of the clan talked to Corpse and got us all unbanned. After that we all kind of went our own ways. I dropped Thanatos and started playing as t0ken. And here i am, almost 3 years later still kicking. I think of this place as my home away from home. I've met a lot of cool people here and meet new people everyday. It's been a privilege to be a part of the Council and being an admin. Hopefully ill keep moving up the ladder and making new friends. ♥ t0ken ( everyone's favorite black guy) My original unban request haha viewtopic.php?f=68&t=23495

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
Holy F*CK Reborn, I didn't know you were Heretic. lmfao. We used to own with each other on Hardmud...I was Thulium for most of my time there. My girlfriend of the last 3.5 years used to play as Mija.
So yah, I started playing at the beginning of 2006 I think? I played a couple of random servers and soon found Hardmud, which was based in Tampa (where I live) and had a large community and that's where I made my home. They were pretty similar to what n00bfest is and I really loved their Supervillain mod. after about 3 months of playing, I started staying in the top 5 and join the community clan |HMA|. Soon after, they decided to play in CAL and I was invited to the team. After one season of Cal-O (not a good one) hardmud started dying. At this time, HMA split off and I ran 3 servers (Regular, GunGame, and CAL) and a website for the clan as well as another breakoff clan). Played another season of CAL and it went badly. Before the next season started, we pretty much called it quits and I stopped playing.
I didn't play again until just about 2 years ago and really haven't played anywhere except n00bfest. Soon became a recruit. 3 months later was welcomed to [n00b]. Played waaaay too much around that time. I've had to take a few months off twice since then for general life stuff, but dont' plan on being anywhere but in n00bfest =)

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
I'm one of the late bloomers. My cousin was a big 1.6 player and I would LAN with him since I had no Internet at my house. Then when css came out he tried it and didn't like the randy bull shit of source so he quit CS for good. He downloaded hacks and played till he got VAC so no more cs for me :/. It wasn't until 4 years later I got high speed internet and picked up a copy of css. When I first started I jumped all over the place with many different names and I was a dick I didnt care about any server rules I just wanted to play the game my way and if you didnt like it I would say F*CK you and moved on to a different server. Normal pub style became boring me so I tried the different game mods. I played surf, dm, wcs, hosties (how i met tiki and later joined n00bfest) mg, zm pretty much everything. I remember playing on n00bfest's fun server and when I played I was always like this angrykitten guy is real dick. Then I disappered off the face of the earth and when I came back most of the people I played with were gone except for a few like tiki. I always saw tiki in the same server so one day is like what the hell ill join and play a couple rounds. Couple months later I signed up for n00b and here I am today a pretty high level admin, council member, FS member, and friends with you jew fags ♥ n00bfest is by far the best place I played at and I dont feel like leaving anytime soon

Re: A breif history of counter strike...
oh CS... I started you back literally a month after the transfer from WON To Steam. I got me a pretty 6 digit ID. I played like a retard and didn't know how to do much of anything because my computer was a laggy piece of shit bought off the shopping channel by my mom. Although i had played previously in 1.3 and 1.5 on other peoples computers minorly.
Started playing on a server called canadian bacon, the operator was much like corpse, old man with a life, life took over I took the server name and ran it on my own for a while... 300 bucks every 3 months sent to BFG servers VIA snail mail check. Ran that thing for 6 months to a year, made some friends, had it collapse becuase the one guy was a retard and would to this day make joe momma look like a good admin. Blah blah cry baby break up story when I took control (I paid for it after all). Met a now long time friend at this time, who was at the time Cal P caliber and could have gone pro if he wanted to. Ran 3 vent servers non simulataneously during this period. Usually 10-25 man since I really didn't need a lot. Played with him constantly till after high school in 04 when he started to get a life, we used to have major lawls of getting banned on next to every server we went on because people thought he cheated hardcore, and I had my moments.
Good times those were..... then source came out. My original source account was that 6 digit. i got silver package bought by some guy in florida we knew... big mistake on my part beacuse on my 20th birthday in '06 i lost my e-mial and my steam account simultaneously, never got either back, figure my account got jacked by a bd trojan and sold to some sucker. Took some time off of it all, came back off and on. Came back fully when I joined n00bfest in 09 or whenever my join date says. Wish my AFRICAN AMERICAN friend still played, F*CK he would be a lot of fun.
