Here's the story from local news:

Almost three hours after a shooting spree started in West Odessa, shots are still being fired at law enforcement and the suspect is apparently now on foot but is still armed.

Email sent to the Odessa American indicate the suspect is a disabled veteran and that he may have ties to the Republic of Texas. This has not been substantiated.

In far West Odessa, near the 14000 block of University Blvd., a man has shot at at DPS helicopter and assorted law enforcement officials and has sent three people to the hospital.

Three people were taken to Medical Center Hospital. Two of the wounded are Ector County deputies. Ahe private citizen who was wounded was identified as Luke Bedrick, according to his cousin Renee Pettigrew.

Pettigrew lives down the street from where the shooting began. Bedrick has been released. She said she thinks he was shot in the leg.

She said she thinks Bedrick had been sent to a property to repossess a trailer and that a man started shooting. She said Luke has four small children. "I feel very blessed that he is OK."

Two deputies are among those shot. Ricky Tijerina, 28, and another as yet unidentified deputy were both shot this afternoon by a suspect who apparently is still taunting law enforcement officials over a police scannfer. Earlier, it was reported that Eddie Mancha had been shot. That was incorrect.

Scanner traffic earlier indicated the suspect was in a silver Toyota Tundra.

Tim Tijerina, brother of Ricky, said his brother is in stable condition. "His wife is back there talking to him it missed any major arteries. It went in the back of his shoulder and came out his neck. He's good."

Nikki Rodriquez, a friend of the Tijerninas, rushed with husband Anthony to the hospital as soon as they heard. "It's scary to think you can lose somebody you have known for so long."

Tim Tijerina estimated that his brother has been on the force about a year and half. He added he was relieved after talking with his brother and said he was "a lot better than i was when i first got here."

He said Ricky Tijerina's birthday is Saturday. Meanwhile, a heavy law enforcement prescence is in the area of University and Knox. A man identied as the brother of the suspect is apparently on his way to the scene.

Both Tijerina and the other deputy have non-life threatening injuries and are at Medical Center Hospital. The suspect is now shooting at the DPS helicopter with a rifle.

The OPD mobile unit command center arrived earliler to join DEA agents, FBI, Odessa Police, Ector County Sheriffs deputies, UPTB officer and DPS officials are in the area of Knox and University following the shooting of at least one person and possibly several others.

An anonymous inside law enforcement source says the suspect has control of a law enforcement vehicle and is using the cruiser's radio to taunt law enforcement.

Medical Center Hospital has been put on limited lockdown with only patients and staff and certain guests allowed inside and out.

ECSO spokesman Gary Duesler said deputy Ricky Tijerina, 28, was shot in the neck and the foot. All were transported to Medical Center. Initial reports indicate the wounds are not life threatening. .

The suspect has been taunting law enforcement over the police scanner asking them to shoot him while also threatening their lives. "Somebody shoot me I don't care." The man on the scanner threatens them to "come on" and has mentioned Mark Donaldson by name several times. The man is apparently still armed and shooting at deputies.

"Mr. Donaldson..the wrath of the public is coming," an unidentified suspect said via the police scanner.

It was almost three years ago to the day that three Odessa Police Department officers were shot and killed while answering a domestic disturbance call in west Odessa. Two weeks ago a memorial was unveiled at OPD to honor the three and other law enforcement who have died in the line of duty.

He went back to his bunker in West Odessa and had a 22 hour stand off with the Sheriff, DPS, OPD, FBI and Texas Rangers. Over 200 law enforcement officers were there for one guy. They set off some explosives and smoked him out or something like that, I'm amazed they didn't shoot the guy dead after he injured 2 deputies. This dude was even shooting at the DPS helicopters! This was big excitement for such a small city.

Kind of reminds me of when I was staying at my buddys house in Farmington, CT. We hadn't heard of anything going wrong or anything major going on before we left for the day so everything seemed normal as usual when we drove up the main road towards the highway. That was until we say Farmington PD with shepards, shotguns, assault rifles, body armor patrolling the woods and back streets.

Turns out 2 guys robbed a bank in the next town and ran on foot to farmington armed hiding in house to house trying to get by. They caught the first guy hiding in a garage after a women found him....so she locked him in the garage. She ran outside with the phone and found a patrol of heavily armed police with dogs walking her street. The other guy took 2 days to find lol.

Idk it was funny at the time because of how armed our entire small towns police force was. I mean if a kid shot a tire with a 22 pistol they would probably call in airstrikes and artillery lol.

Of course they didn't kill him. If a guy can pull this kind of shit and still keep his composure, then he's a valuable asset with a little bit of training and brainwashing. :P
