sorry kwang i didn't read your whole post, quite in a hurry but ill read it all

you say that i should get my ass covered if they play a song that is not theirs, actually, how it works (here at least) is that you just fill a contract with them and just sign that all you play is legal shit, and you need the proofs. that makes you legit to let them play, and if in the event that they do something illegaly, I'm covered. but then again, a lawyer could help me in this and in all the city's laws

As far as I know, in the USA even if you have a signed statement from the band saying that what the are playing is legal, you're still liable for any copyright infringement that occurs on your property. The only advantage of having a contract like that is you can sue the band after the music groups are done suing you. I'm not sure about how it works in Canada, but don't think having a contract with the band makes everything ok. The contract with the band allows you to distribute the liability but doesn't completely shield you from damages. You're still liable if the band has no assets.

but that garantees me in some way that I kinda made sure that they're going to play that shit legaly and that i asked for it to be legal

of course I'd need proof, it's just like asking a 5 years old if he stole an apple from the neighboor's apple tree, of course he would say he didnt.

but in some way i kinda believe it would be a good way to secure my ass from being sued, but once again i'm not really sure i,d be the only one taking care of stuff like that when it would happen, lawyer is my friend... but i see what u mean

Don't hire AFRICAN AMERICANS.

Only Real advice needed.

That will solve the problems of the 3 previous posts.

lol, believe me man, it's never the AFRICAN AMERICANS that steal, they usually try to keep their jobs. In my experience in working in restaurants, its always the white trash losers who always think they can grab some extra bucks to get their baby a "Git r done" shirt from the John Deer store.
