 n00bfest "E-Bay"
Why not? As most people know, I always get rid of shit I don't need. Why not give it to a n00b at a discount before some random asshat in China?
We could set up a forum or even a totally new sub-domain with n00bfest ebay. People can throw a Xbox 360 up on n00b-bay and say, "Looking for $100 for this with ten controllers, and 70 games. n00bs are trustworthy enough to hold their word, and pay for an item. No $10.00 Ebay fees or anything. Just a cool service to offer our members. In talks of bringing people to our website... hell... that'd skyrocket our members. Kinda like d2jsp.org did. Grow members because of the validity in trading/selling. If you do this through the forums, bids can be placed by posting... that simple. If you really wanted to add functionality to it, you could make a small addong for phpbb for a particular section of the forum with starting bid prices, bin prices, shipping, and more. That wouldn't be hard to code at all!
n00b-bay... "A place where n00bs can hussle."

 Re: n00bfest "E-Bay"
Sweet Ive bought things like this before from other forums, namely Overclock.net, where someone posts an item either with or without pics with their price in the post and you PM that person saying your interested try to haggle the price a teeny bit and they then proceed to ship it to you :) Very convenient!! Idk if that would be easier/better versus a system like ebay.

Yup this is a great idea. I have a lot of useful things I want to sell. I'm not sure about haggling, because I think that will create unnecessary tension between members.

 Re: n00bfest "E-Bay"
I like the idea, but I think it should be more like craigslist than ebay, since we're not actually bidding on the item. I think haggling can be fine if people put OBO (Or best offer) or Negotiable in the description. If it's a firm price, then say so and people will (should) respect that. I'm in!

If you get upset because someone doesn't want to sell you something for that price, get the F*CK over it and offer more or don't buy it. If someone is going to be sensitive about that, they should stay away from that forum, car dealerships, buying houses, and just about anything else in life.

True that, if you don't haggle then you waste money and people don't get mad if you ask them as long as you don't low ball them. I mean I got my GTX 285 from someone off ebay his price said 250 i asked im if 235 shipped would work and he agreed it shouldn't be taken as coercing someone to lower the price just saying hey i would buy that at ____ price whaddya say?

I've been a member of HardOCP's forum for a couple years now, and they have a really cool For Sale/For Trade subforum where members can buy and sell computer stuff. I would love to see something like that at n00bfest.

I'd really like to avoid having another forum at the moment, but I'm going to see if and where we could fit a forum in as a temporary-to-permanent measure (depending on use, either can the forum altogether or upgrade it into its own feature-rich module instead of just a forum).

I really like the idea. I think that in theory it would be a pretty cool thing to do Gman wrote: I'd really like to avoid having another forum at the moment, but I'm going to see if and where we could fit a forum in as a temporary-to-permanent measure (depending on use, either can the forum altogether or upgrade it into its own feature-rich module instead of just a forum). and you could combine the fps archive forum with the left 4 dead or call of duty forum. Im pretty sure those are the least active ones we have. that way you can free up some space for this idea...

 Re: n00bfest "E-Bay"
i think this has too much potential to turn out wrong. i guess it could be usefull, but i just see some kind of drama comming from this.
"so and so diddnt pay me" or "i paid but never got shit and this nig dissapeared"
just a few future posts i see
other than that, i wouldent mind pitching on acid's shit.
