The Mayan calendar does not end, it is the end of a b'ak'tun. Much like the end of Western civilization's century, it's just the end of a period of time. It will be the end of the 5th b'ak'tun and the 6th b'ak'tun will begin.

There is a common theme among the Mayan's, the Hopi, and someone else's history that I cant remember right now that revolves around the times of man. The Hopi believe we're in the 4th cycle and waiting to begin the 5th, while the Mayan and the other culture believes we're in the 5th entering the 6th.

There is another common theme among ALL ancient civilizations and that is that there was a great flood that occurred and wiped out civilization and humanity had to begin again.

Take it how you want it but we don't know enough about the past or science to predict what will happen.

My wife has been into the whole 2012 thing for the past several years. Everything she's ever showed me seems to make sense, but I guess we'll just have to wait till John Cusak comes rollin' up in a limo.....then you know it's the end of the world.

I dont know how many of yall belive in the bible but it says only God knows when the world will end not even his angels know so Im right there with u Vision its just a change in centures not the end of the world with the mayan and Hopi and I all so think that if the world would end it would be a masive WAR rasical or culteral WAR just my opion.

i have no degrees. i drink, i F*CK, and i use my head. thats enough for me. so far all i've read about is a mix of 3 movies, 2012, day after tomorrow, and The Core. good movies.. cept for 2012.. i nvr watched all of it.. previews gave too much. However, Static, Acid, and Vision are All correct when they say that a Theory is just a Theory and a Theory without practical and original thoughts and data processors is just Bullshit. You cannot not theorize that the world will end and throw out a bunch of data and not back it up using your own ideas. A Theory is not a Fact. Just an Idea, When the Majority if not 100% of all ppls science agrees on the same thing, than the Theory becomes Fact. Hey Vision, I'm NOT being argumentative, just curious. Is your degree in physics? I like your replies, they are well thought out and intelligent.

Mine is not in physics, but I ate, slept and breathed physics growing up as my dad was a physicist and chemist. I read Scientific American for fun, both then and now, and can actually discuss event horizons, the conservation of linear momentum, I know that centrifugal force is a misnomer and why the act of observation changes the results.

Just saying.

Purple is retarded my degree is in mathematics, looking back physics would have been more applicable for me because I love applied math and physicists are all over the place including the financial sector which is where I would like to be at some point. Physics has always interested me especially astro-physics. I think everyone should take an astronomy course to understand how little we know about our own existence and try to get a grasp on how insignificant we are in comparison to the size of the universe.
