yea never really played an instrument. Kinda pissed I never learned but hey I didnt have alot of time to learn because I was playing for like 2-3 teams for soccer year round. I would love to learn bass guitar and trumpet (Satchmo ftw. could listen to him all day).

Gman, I didn't F*CKING know how old he was. Its really beside the point. It sounded like he was chalking up guitars to be something for amateurs who doodle with some blues and nothing serious like "concert" music. I had to speak for my instrument's community as the guitar is, in fact, a concert instrument just as as everything in the brass and woodwind sections are. I apologize if it sounded harsh to Pit Stop. However, we ALL know you'd say the same, if not more, to a 15 year old who ragged on the beer you know SOOOOOO MUCH ABOUT.

You've been in this community for over a year, how the hell do you not know that pitstop is a teen?

I played the saxophone for a few years back in the days before HS. Loved it, should of stuck with it.

Hey pitstop, what about renting an instrument? I used to rent my saxophone for the school year. My parents paid for it but I don't think it was too expensive but now that I think about it I can't really remember how much it cost. I rented the same saxophone for 3-4 years.

Because I haven't checked his profile, especially to look for his age. Not only that, but he doesn't sound 15 on the mic. I fail to understand why I should explicitly KNOW the dude is 15. Unless he inclues "OH BY THE WAY, I'M 15 YEARS OF AGE" after each of his posts, I should have no knowledge of his age. Besides, I only saw him in the server for the first time last month, so the only thing I know about him is that he is Strange's brother. Mossy and Tiki are both teens and are they given the same protectionist treatment? Far from it.

Post Re: Who plays an instrument?
I only made reference to him being a teen not explicitly 15yo. I have a general idea of how old everyone is based on their voice and how they act, I just thought through listening to him and through conversation it would be apparent he was a teen to anyone.

Your initial post was rather aggressive and your subsequent posts are rather hostile as well.

I don't normally comment or suggest the reasoning behind other people's actions but I believe that Gman's comment had more to do with the hostile tone of your post which seemingly comes out of no where rather than the actual recipient of the post or the age of said person.

From my standpoint it looks like you typed it with your e-peen. Sure pitstop could have worded his question a little better and maybe asked who played concert instruments besides guitar and drums but the way you responded just seems unwarranted.

As far as Mossy and Tiki are concerned their buttfags and deserve to be treated as such ♥

Post Re: Who plays an instrument?
Maybe I should've thought rationally and a bit more temperately before replying. I still think Pit Stop was hinting that the guitar is an amateur instrument, but I should've worded my rebuttal more eloquently. I already apologized about the harshness of my post, so again, Angus, I apologize for being a douche in my first post. It wasn't my intention. Let me restate, also, that the guitar, though its garnered support from the emo-fags and metalheads over the years, is most definitely a respected and versatile instrument which has been used to perform many a baroque and classical concerto. My intention was to show that the guitar shouldn't be discarded along with drums, as the OP originally proposed, as a non-concert instrument, but be included with the likes of french horns, oboes, flutes, etc. While I think it should be included, I also think it should be differentiated from electric guitar and its ilk as those applications are not what the OP was referring to: concert instruments that belong in baroque and classical ensembles. As for an explanation as to why my posts continued to sound hostile: its better to get pissed off than pissed on. And when someone writes something as inflammatory as "RAWR RAWR RAWR. I'M AN INSECURE DEFENSIVE HOMOSEXUAL! LET ME BITCH OUT A F*CKING 15 YEAR OLD ON THE INTERNET BECAUSE I KNOW SOOOOOOO MUCH ABOUT GUITARS," its bound to produce an equally hostile response.

As a side note, the French Horn sounds lovely and is supremely warmer in tone than the trumpet and the trumpet's fat nephew, the flugelhorn. The French horn is easily my favorite of the brass family for tone. I was a woodwind player back in the grammar school days. I played clarinet. I didn't like it so much, which is why I picked up the string family as my musical family of choice. In my opinion, they are much more responsive and emotively versatile.

WOW. I understand how Omega could've gotten that impression about what I thought about guitars because of what I said. And I thank Vision for sticking up for me and all, but Omega really hasn't had the time to really get know me (not really we play alot on the elite server), but I don't want to be that guy who got two other guys raging at each other because I AM NOT THAT IMPORTANT. I was just asking a simple question about who played what, if anything.

And I don't think alot of music stores rent out French Horns or Bass Saxophones because they both average about 9,000-13,000 in price, but thanks for the advice Vision.

Omega I accept your apology and I am sorry if I disrespected you in any way.

I feel like a big gay flaming bag of homos.

See, now this discussion of concert instruments sounds like it should. Very emo and very faggotty. Carry on nerds...

I PLAYED THE BONE

Yeah, I played the Trombone (and the Bass Trombone for Jazz Band) through Jr. High and High School. Glad that I did, too.

Portland, Oregon or Portland, Maine ? Good luck with the whole Symphony thing! Only reason I ask is because I am from just across the river from Portland, Oregon.

haha nice waffle. if it wasn't for jazz band i don't think that i would have done any of the concert stuff. counting 248 measures to hit the triangle on the "and" of 2 was not the most pleasurable experience of my life. that said, have you ever heard of a trumpeter named bill chase? that guys ridiculous!

I played the clarinet and trumpet back in Elementary school. All I remember was the clarinet was hard as hell, trumpet was easy.

Trumpet is by far one of the hardest things to learn and master.due to the unbelievable amount of lip/tongue usage.Oh and if you wanna hear ridiculous trumpet players listen to Rafael Mendez,Arturo Sandoval,Maynard Ferguson and Doc severinsen.
