WARNING DO NOT PURCHASE Samsung syncmaster 953BW montior!
I purchased this montior about 8 months ago, and before then it was a flawless awsome monitor. Looks great had awsome display and was very satisfied with it. But yesturday i got the blue blinking light of death, so after fighting with my Gf on the phone and my montior giving me the blue light i procced to pick it up and smash it into my floor, after that it leaked mercury into my carpet, kinda looked liked blood but ya F*CK samsung

Why were you fighting in the first place.

I will never buy anything other than Samsung. Sorry you had an issue with yours, but they are the best in the market.

1) It probably had a 12 month warranty on it, so now that you smashed it, you must spend your own money on a new one.
2) Most of those electronics share common component suppliers. Your monitor could very well be 90% the same as a similar sized sony monitor, for instance. Assuming this,
3) Your case of a monitor gone bad is more probably just a case of bad luck or poor treatment or some combination than that model generally being a lemon. Consider the fact that in a fit of rage you threw it to the ground. When you get randy headshotted in CS for instance, do you sometimes hit your monitor or desk in rage? That vibration, coupled with a randy weak solder boundary, could have caused something to come loose.

Also, I would think it safe to assume that no modern consumer material contains any more than a trace amount of mercury, and certainly not enough to leak out. You probably saw the remains of the Pepsi that you poured over your monitor last time I dualied your face.

If somehow your monitor did contain mercury in amounts large enough to leak out, you should evacuate your home/building at once and call in the closest hazardous materials crew.

LG 3 year hotswap, next time buy one of those and if it dies you take it back to the store and they give you a new one. BTW LG monitors are awsome, just as good as any other maker with more options for the same money.

Acer all the way baby. Had my little 15 inch for almost 2 years no problems (beside it looks kinda dull side by side to my new 20 inch).

I like the OEM brands because they're cheaper than standalone. You can even buy them separately at best buy now. Had a gateway branded monitor for years and years, and am now on my 2nd Dell. Take the branded bezel away from a lot of these things, and you wont be able to tell the difference. Hell, save even more money and buy an openbox/scratch & dent from Bestbuy.

YA i was looking at a 19inch LG today it was very nice, pretty sure its gunna be my next monitor

i just use my new tv that i got for a moniter looks great...and bet it did come with a 1 year factory warrenty like every thing else does

Lawl, I have a new (used for 1 week) Planar 19" with height adjustment I'll sell you. It only took me two returns to get one that worked. I won the damn thing at work and never used it.

True story. My Samsung SyncMaster 940BW that I bought in January 2007 is still going strong now. F*CKIN' thing rules.

Buying an LG Plasma t.v. when I get my yearly bonous next month. Don't know if I should go 50' or 60', anyone got any advice?

What's your viewing distance from the TV? That should dictate the size of TV you should get. Shorter the distance, smaller the TV. Otherwise you'll be turning your head to see different parts of the screen, which is not cool.

My current house's living room wouldnt benefit from anything over 40" because my viewing distance is probably 6-8 feet. Somewhere there's a calculator, I'm sure.

Yea don't go cheap on your plasma and don't worry as much about distance so much as quality. I bought a 52" LCD 120hz and I can enjoy the picture no matter where I sit, which is between 4-10 ft. Do your research as to what differs a $1000 Plasma 50' to a $1900 plasma 50' becuase the difference are probably great. I cannot say since I only did my research into LCD to avoid the burn in problem for gaming. Although i will say they do have technology that slows or even counters the burn in for Plasma but take it into consideration (plus I know the time on the screen matters yada yada yada...)
