Post Pink Floyd = Amazing
Hey guys, I don't know if lots of you are fan of this band, or just like progressive rock, if you do, and you didn't really payed attention to what Pink Floyd was, please listen at (or watch) The Wall, it is a rock opera that Pink Floyd made (i know that it is older than me, my parents knew what it was, but like 80% of my friends couldn't tell me what The Wall was about even if they heard the songs at least once).

In school, im in a school program, i play drum and other percussions, but im highly interested in music lyrics and instrumental meaning, which is really hard to understand cuz its usually the artist's thoughts. The Wall is the most (according to me) interesting and yes, the best movie of all time if you can understand everything that this 1 hour and a half movie means.

I decided to write an essay about it for a school project. it is actually the hardest homework i'll ever do. i read so much about the wall and everytime i read something about it, i still learn.

if your passion is exactly like mine [the real meaning of music, as deep as it could be], what do you think about my project and would you read it once my work is done [because it will be in english since i'm allowed to do it in any language]?

Your Coq

Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time. I can only aspire to be as good a musician as David Gilmour. The Wall was a good album; one of Water's best as he dominated the songwriting in that album (the same can be said for "Animals"). I'm not a fan of the Syd Barrett- era Floyd, though. I'll read your shit, man.

Pink Floyd is F*CKIN amazing! My dad got me into them when I was younger, and I have listened to them since. I keep hoping the remaining members record another album..but, alas...they never do. I've heard the rumors for years now...but nothing.

You should check out Dream Theater's "The Wall" album cover. They redid the entire thing perfectly. I'm pretty sure that my favorite Floyd song has got to be "Time".

Whoa, could it be? Another Dream Theater fan on n00bfest? I burnt that whole concert to a DVD when it came out. It was when John Petrucci had that stupid-ass short hair with the color and shit. They musically nailed it with perfection. LaBrie didn't do so hot singing.

You have to be on acid to understand a lot of it.

:D LTE is one of my favorite bands. Acid Rain was their hardest yet melodic song on the album. One of the top songs on the album. Love the Rudess/Petrucci harmony sections on that one. Biaxident is one of the best on their, too. DEFINITELY one of my faves. I love lots of piano in songs (even though I'm a guitarist, lol) and Rudess is one of the best pianists I've heard. Its crazy how raw the albums sounded; alot of the musical sections in songs were improvised on the recordings apparently. I'm used to Dream Theater songs and how meticulously organized they were.

LOL I was gonna say Biaxident is wicked crazy. That bass is F*CKING awesome, hands down. Also, I have to admit I enjoyed Paradigm Shift.

rudess is far from being the best pianist since he plays keyboard (even if he plays piano as well, he only masters perfectly the keyboard) he isnt close to be a pro to the piano world, but here again, its all comparing to our own tastes

You're crazy. No wait.... yeah, you're F*CKING crazy. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_28 Rudess is no Liszt, but he is easily one of music's top current keyboardists/pianists. Dream Theater/LTE has always had some of the greatest of all time: Sherinian, Moore and now Rudess. If you're unconvinced of Rudess' acoustic ability, you should listen to "An Evening with John Petrucci & Jordan Rudess." Its audiosex.

Well shit, man, the best alive is the best we, as the listeners, are ever gonna get. The "best" performers of each instrument are all probably long gone (unless, of course, the instrument is a new instrument like a theremin or a turn table).

Post Re: Pink Floyd = Amazing
wait though, dream theater isnt the best "live" performers, idk if uve seen them live OTHER than on a dvd like budokan cuz it really is not like you can see on dvds, of course the music is perfect, its dream theater, but you cant F*CKING move, you gotta stay on your F*CKING chair the whole time, they are not moving that much on stage and are not really active that much with the crowd, plus petrucci in some songs tries a lil bit too much (like in hollow years which is according to me 1 of their best songs)

so yeah man, if you thought about buying tickets for 1 of their live show in your neighboorhood, think it twice, i wouldnt pay again for them... meh

No no, I didn't mean "live," lol, you crazy Frenchman. I meant the best musical performers are mostly all dead. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16 Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_05
