Post Re: Geek Squad - Best Buy - "We can remove the crap"
My experience with best buy geek squad.

I had a laptop a few years ago that developed an interesting problem. I couldn't dim the screen and if I had the screen at just the right angle, the screen would flicker between dim and bright. I did a little searching on google and found that the likely problem was a wire running from the screen to the mobo was loosely connected. Since I had the best buy warrenty, I took my laptop to get it serviced.
1st try: Told them battery life was low and the screen had problems. They only replace the battery.
2nd try: Told them about the screen problem. They ship it out and it comes back with a note saying no problems found. I demo the problem to the agent at the desk.
3rd try. They replace the mobo on the laptop, this still doesn't solve the problem.
4th try. They replace the LCD panel on the laptop. This actually solved the problem.

My $800 laptop took at least $1500 or more to fix if you account for all the shipping, labor and parts. It would have been MUCH cheaper for bestbuy to hand me a new laptop since the sucker was at least 2 years old. Although the geek squad may be shit, it's still effective service if you have the accidental damage warranty on a laptop, which is a MUST for any college student.

It's actually worthwhile if you're too busy to F*CK with all that clean up. As other have said, the laptops these days come with shitloads of stuff pre-installed and ready to advertise. Geek Squad will strip all that off for you so all you need to do is install your shit on it when you get it home.

I've done it a couple of times in the past just to have the thing ready to use when I get it home instead of starting with an hour or two of tweaking before I get to install my shit.

For some, they love to do it all themselves, so there's totally no value whatsoever. For others who lack the capability or the time, it's useful.

Pro-tip: Geek Squad's job is to fix a computer. Fixing a computer to the average dipshit is something you do on sometimes a weekly basis because you're not a dipshit. Explaining how computers work to a dipshit is not fixing a computer and therefore is not productive.

Want to keep your PC running clean? Shut up and do it yourself, HOMOSEXUAL. Otherwise go hit up the Geek Squad. It'll be done one way or the other.

this is why best buy and the geek squad make me sick.

And that is why I build my own shit and just install some pirated copy of xp not giving a shit about the "your windows copy can not be validated" message on the bottom right of the screen.

At least I know I don't have a bunch of shit trying to run in the background and using up resources like that AFRICAN AMERICAN high just said.
