 Council
What's going on? This is the most dead this community has ever been. Nobody posts on the forums, nobody plays in the servers, nobody outside of ~10 people are ever in TeamSpeak. You guys were selected for a reason. I'm not blaming you for the lack of activity, but that also brings a unique advantage. You can mold n00bfest drastically at this point because, right now, I don't see how it's going to get worse. For one, we are 13 days in and $0 has been donated. Step up and do something or step to the side. This is a slow painful death I'm tired of seeing and I'm not sure anyone else sees it either. The future of n00bfest is in your hands right now.

Do you not see a problem with half the month over with no donation, an average of 3 people in the server, and no activity in the forums? I remember if we fell out of the top 100 servers something was wrong. Now, we can't even break the top 5,000. I know it's fun to not care and look cool, but if something isn't done, there won't be anybody to be cool to with your cute little comments.

I know it's fun to not care and look cool, but if something isn't done, there won't be anybody to be cool to with your cute little comments. Well it was ether make a sarcastic comment, support your statement, go against your statement, or just stay quiet. I can't stay quiet, I don't support ye but don't wanna start a debate. So I chose option giggle. Personally I don't see the responsibility of a n00bfest revival land in the hands of the council but land in the hands of Elders, Ancient, and other older members (you and I included). But as of now the lump some of those players are going to various life changes which makes their online time a bit less frequent, combine that with the general slump of interest in CS:S, you are left with the situation where there are less people are playing some 4 different games. Some may criss-cross between them but most spend more hours on just one. In general you have a smaller, stagnate population which is further segmented. My only idea as of now is to hope for the creation of the CS:GO pub, have people cease doing match making matches and sit in there, have the old school CS:S actually try to switch to GO, and try to recreate the old school atmosphere. Once you have the pub, the place where everyone knows your name, the place that people come home to, hell the place people come to talk about what kind of toilets they have and call the other player a "AFRICAN AMERICAN" after they found out they have a type of toilet the other person doesn't like. Than your donation and forum activity problem shall solve itself. I like the ideas of going into new games as well but I believe without the one thing that brought us all here in the first place, a single game that everyone played that had the most unique atmosphere, I believe there is an increase difficulty in this. Unless we focus on one whole new game in general, for example Day z.. I would like to hear other fellow members ideas, talking I guess is the first step in anything, I would like to hear about yours. I believe someone of your age(seeing the switch from CZ to CS:S) would have some decent insight and would hope that you have more in your hand than just an appeal to the council.

 Re: Council
The problem is as stated before all (almost all) the n00bs that play CSGO play match making and don't pub. Without a conscious effort of every n00b that plays GO to populate a n00bfest GO pub the activity will not pick up.
This does not fall on any one member or group it falls on all n00bs. When we had the GO pub up we would get about 12 n00bs on and then it would fill up with others and after about 2-3 maps everyone left and went to do comp matches. This kills the server and the cycle repeats...

Crzyninja wrote: this probably should of been posted in members forum not public forums That's the point, it doesn't matter. The same few people post on the forums, which is the same few people that go in the TeamSpeak, which is the same few people that venture outside of their bubble to converse with others. There hasn't been a significant front page post in 6 months or longer. That last 50 people that have joined the forums go back to September and none this year. The thread can get moved, but the same people are going to see it no matter where it is. This is a community problem. That's why it's addressed to the council. I don't want to see the community I've been a part of for almost 10 years fold. If this turns into a 10 page anything, that'd be great. At least there would be ANY form of activity.

 Re: Council
LOL I can't believe I just got called out by Spyda of all people. If people are gonna play in the pub, I'm down.. but lets face it, only rage tries to populate the cs:s server, and when he does, I'm there. Where are you? Haven't seen you there. Hilarious.
By the way you can read sarcasm into that or not, as your opinion really doesn't matter to me anyway.
But ya know what? Since I'm such a nice guy, and since you went to all the trouble to start a thread hoping for "a 10 page anything" I'll go ahead and use some space. I've been working part time as of late, and the wife has gone back to school to pursue a nursing career. Kids have been home, first on Christmas break, second during the recent snowstorm. Oh, also, I've had bronchitis, my oldest had pneumonia, and my youngest caught the flu for good measure. So I definitely haven't been bored. (By the way I was told about some of the messages I've missed, but I often miss them) Anyway, What do you suggest we do spyda? I only really play CS:S. Not buying BF4 for a few more weeks, LoL? lol., what could we, as a community, pull together to achieve. Tourney? minecraft building contest? retro night?

Not buying BF4 for a few more weeks, LoL? lol., what could we, as a community, pull together to achieve. Tourney? minecraft building contest? retro night? Yes, if you took it to heart then I called you out. You are one of the biggest leaders of the community. I am also a leader and I understand that. But I'd give up every bit of my leadership and completely step out of the way this second if it meant a revitalization of the community I love. Not trying to call people out just to do it, I'm trying to do it because I don't know if others don't see it or they don't care. I don't care about the Source server when it comes down to it. I never have. I played 1.5 until the dying day with everyone and tried my hardest to skip 1.6 to CZ, I played CZ until our server was shut down and continue playing years after while everyone moved to Source. The GO server is broken and stays that way. I play LoL and DayZ 90% of the time and there is no problem with that because I actively seek other members to play with when I do. I am in TeamSpeak actively as much as I possibly can and there's only a select number of people that ever join. Want to get people to play with you? Come join in and talk to people. I do agree with you in Rage being the only one trying, and he has for years. He puts so much time into this place that very few people can match. But him sitting in the pub. Myself, Kano, Gman, honestly, Greatness, cybr, das, and the few others ever in TS are the only ones that are visible. Vent used to be even worse before it got switched over. You do have some good ideas though that can easily work without much setup. The problem is getting the message out at this point. I don't play Minecraft, but I'd like to see what people can build within a time limit on a certain night and we can all judge who made the best house, 3D model, or anything. I don't think a tourney would do well, though. Your retro thing could go over a lot better. JoeMamma wrote: So, not to be an ass or anything, but all that rant, and you didn't donate any money?? I lost my job a little before Thanksgiving so that isn't a possibility. Probably wouldn't have donated anyway as I've always been someone that's donated my time for things like tourney help and NBI rather than money. BTW, does anyone know where fomenta is?

There hasn't even been an unban request in 5 months. Now THAT used to be some good watchin' with some popcorn. If I'm hated by everyone at the end of this, ok. I'm not saying the stuff I do just to get a rise out of people and piss them off, but hopefully spark something to get a flame burning from the cinders I see from my point of view.

 Re: Council
That's the point tho isn't it? I've seen you guys playing DayZ, I see others in BF4, and Minecraft, as well as Civ. .. Lets face it, as a community based game CS:GO fails. It's designed to mingle players. We were kinda banking on it to take off, but all it did was spread people out. lol Either BF4 is sosuperawesome that the guys playing it know we can't handle the awesome, or, it sucks and they dont want to admit they paid EA more money :P Minecraft gets old pretty fast for the amount of work involved to keep the mods updated and playing nicely with eachother. What if some of us wrote some quick overviews of the games were playing? We could include some screens etc. We could all go thru the subforums for other games and update what were doing. Bottom line, I support your commitment with my own. Who else is in?

I'm in to help in any way I possibly can. If Rok and I can work together for something, anything on the internet is possible.
Other than that, people start posting shit. Link to things you find funny or interesting if you have to. Get people talking in threads that doesn't include the words happy birthday. The clique you are part of off on your own may not have ever happened if it wasn't for n00bfest, there would be no PSA, no fs, no n00b.i, or others. Give someone else the opportunity to make a great friendship like you have/had with other members.

 Re: Council
Lets not turn this into a finger(bang) pointing party and instead use the very real problem Spyda suggested. Before CS:S most recently died at the end of the summer the server was almost always primarily (atleast 1/2) way filled with n00b regulars. We werent getting new members very often and new people weren't finding our server. With just the same group of people playing it was bound to die off. I don't know if CS:S is taking its final bow or something in our formula started getting unnattractive to the remaining players, but the idea of a populated CS:S server as it used to be seems out of reach. I think our best bet is to try and establish a foothold in CS:GO

 Re: Council
Damn I'm late to the party, almost got to the 10th page!
Anyway, I do notice that the website is really unpopular these days. I try posting whenever possible (while staying classy). Though I'm afraid I don't have much time on the side to play a lot. Went through the loss of my father, actively training for ice canoeing this winter with a team, full-time at school and a job aside. And when I do have time, it's mostly on a console because 1) CSS is dead, 2) my PC sucks big time with new games.
I'm down do give a try with a new game for the community. Only thing is it has to be run with a quite old computer, otherwise I'm just gonna stick to the forums. Can't really participate to comment or suggest any game since I haven't played computer games since last summer I believe. DayZ sounds like a lot of fun though, lot of fun that could be shared with a lot of members, and ruined by Kano.

 Re: Council
I play Battlefield.
I don't really want to play CSGO. We had a server, but for one reason or another our Server's OS needed to be upgraded, fomenta has been working, doing superimportantnotimeforgamenerds stuff. So he hasn't been able to do it.
However, I'll play CSGO if thats what it takes. I'd prefer it was battlefield, but whatever.
Gman told me the other day that CSS is still popular, but no one here plays it anymore so it's obvious we're done with it.
I'm down to play games with people though.

 Re: Council
playing pub servers and matchmaking are not mutually exclusive, so i do think a csgo pub server could be populated. we just need fomenta to bring it back up first of all :/ but since im a newish member and havent donated guess my opinion doesnt matter
