I could just use some help to recognize it. I've Been Given Links to here look at this (and getting a wikipedia page of usbs) I just want I answer of what this is.

Ok Now the Major Problem is..I have a Belkin_N1 Wireless router which I purchase For 130$ Split The Cost with family Members. Now on this router I have No Trouble Surfing the Web or Listening to music, but when i want to try and Play Source Or Xbox i start having problems. I will play for an average of 15 minutes and i will "timeout". Now i have called my ISP which is shit but provide decent service and they said my Modem has been up for 70 days without a pingout. So I believe it's a router Problem. Now to play again I hafta walk across the house unplugg the router to reset it and play for maybe 5 mins max and do it again. Yesterday i counted i reset my router 115 times in the 5 and a half hours i played. I'm Just Lost as what to do. All of the sorfware is updated and im just at a loss. Post Re: Tech Questions.
have you set dedicated clientports on your router for your steam and xbox lines?

idk what xbox has to be set to but the default for css is 27005.
check your router and see what it's set to.

Port 27015 is usually only the server's listening port -- you are most likely then transferred to another server port for gameplay -- and if you don't have a static client port it will make little difference because you'll be hopping all over with each instance of counter strike.

Next time you timeout run these commands from your computer and post the results:

Traceroute to gameserver:
tracert 66.135.40.174

Ports (probably won't tell much):
netstat -abn > ns.txt
ns.txt (should open a notepad -- copy that info)

Also, when you say all software, does that include router firmware?

Oh yeah, and JFOBP was right, the link to your headphone pictures is broken.

A windows console / terminal:

Start->run->type cmd->press enter

You should get a box saying something like:
Code:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7100]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.

C:\Users\James>

you can enter those commands in that box -- to copy right click in the box, click mark, highlight the text (its not like word, it draws a huge rectangle, you'll see) and right click in the white rectangle to copy -- paste that stuff in here.

EDIT: In terms of your USB connector - it looks like a standard USB type A male connector. It might be the angle but it looks like the top part of the connector has come loose and slid forward. This is what its supposed to look like (the left):

The part on the bottom (the black part) here...

... looks like it needs to be pushed back into the housing. I've never seen that happen before. Is that the way it looks in real life?

Maybe try pulling it out (at your own risk) -- theres no way it'll fit into the socket with that black part where it is.

Also, regarding the ports - been thinking about it and Prom might be right - if your router randomly closes or blocks traffic on ports when it shouldn't you could have those issues, and the ping / tracert wouldn't show that.

Steam says:
Quote:
Steam Client

* UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic)
* UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV)
* TCP 27020 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads)

... but if your router was functioning right you really shouldn't need to do that.

Go here:
http://portforward.com/
... scroll down and follow the directions for your router to open the ports
