 Re: Rome II Preloaded
Started as Sparta. Just got through taking Athens and Macedonia...You're right, it IS so F*CKING brutal. You've HAVE to upgrade things in your current conquest before you move on or those bitches will revolt, every time. I'm only taking care of 6 territories right now, hate to see what's going to happen when I have 40 or more. It'll take an hour or more to get through one turn!

Me? In Vent? lololol! No, really, lol. Don't like to say no, but I rarely go in Vent. We can discuss things here though!

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
I will say this, as a bad thing about this game. It takes FOREVER for the AI to complete a turn! I feel like I could write a novel and still have to wait for the AI to finish a turn!

I can't believe I just got forum only friended by you! but that's cool. the ai is horrible I can only imagine how long its going to take later in the game. did you know armies don't need sperate ships to move now which is a huge game change.

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
Saw that, but it only takes a small fleet to destroy an army that's not with a ship!

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
Playing as rome sucks. I've managed to get the entire peninsula and one island so far at 31 turns and rebels have me blocked on sicily a 2000 plus army is there cant do anything about yet. what are the spinning "clouds" around ships and armies for?

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
Whenever a unit goes from water to land or land to water, they get those circles around them. That's all it's telling you.
One thing that's still a mystery to me are the little blinking perpendicular rectangles that flash on some of the building cards or unit cards. I've scoured the pedia looking for an answer, and Google, nothing yet.

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
Rush them. Don't go at them with in a testudo, for some reason, they destroy you either way. Just run straight the F*CK at them with your unit. Usually, I pause, then click on each individual unit to run at one each. Since they're automatically set on skirmish mode, they will run when one of your units get too close. Better than that, get two praetorian horse units and run at them with those. They destroy them and can take limited spear hits too.
I was playing as Sparta but I switched to Rome just for the units. I upgraded my barracks tech tree all the way up to level IV and these guys are beasts. I have 13 praetorian guard, 4 velites, 2 praetorian horse and my general, I think he's upgraded to a cohort of some kind. I went up against an army yesterday and I was outnumbered 3 to 1, I won that fight and only lost around 300 soldiers. I have two full armies of these guys. Unstoppable!

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
eqypt is a really good way to get your feet wet and not be discouraged, I started with sparta and was getting really frustrated, Egypt has a really high cash flow, and you can recruit elephant generals, which are way over powered but bad ass.

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
I watched that entire thing. Everything he says is true, lol. Yesterday, I had a battle where 1 unit destroyed (defending a castle gate) around 6,000 guys. Then, I had one where some Celtic Slingers (who throw F*CKING rocks) destroyed that same unit type. Elephants are way overpowered! My god, they can take on an entire enemy army without taking a single loss, that's just nuts.

 Re: Rome II Preloaded
Total War is notorious for crashing. This time, they added in a feature where it saves at the end of every turn. I've had a ton of crashes, mostly when I'm reading the event messages at the start of the turn. I'll click on one, and BOOM! Crash! Yep.
