 Re: Sim City just released:
Yep, they had a horrible launch. I went 2 days without being able to play the game at all. EA is going to give away a free game for that, so it makes up for it a bit.
Most of those reviews are just people that are pissed off about the launch, they have a "Remove the DRM" protest page that has a shit ton of signatures that also tells people to go give the game a horrible rating. Seems that's what they're doing, trolls. Plus a whole slew of people who aren't able to pirate the game are slaughtering the reputation of the game too.
For me, I've played Sim City since the very first one so I'm just a diehard fan. The game itself is amazing. Yes, the areas are smaller than in past Sim games. Yes, you have to be able to multitask your city and make on the fly changes. Still, the game is a lot of fun. Once they get this server problem 100% fixed and all the game functions back, (They removed some features as a temporary fix to the server problems) people will reverse their opinion of the game. I guess I'm more patient than most.

 Re: Sim City just released:
Worst game launch I have ever seen was WWII Online! The game didn't work right and everyone who bought it basically returned it. EB Games up here in Canada had to change there return policy just because of that game. Now that is the worst launch ever, when you make a corporation change a nationwaide return policy.

We need one more major fuckup preferably on another AAA title like COD or HL3 before the companies realize always on drm isn't going to work well. Sim city is part of the solution but unless it happens again it might get written off aspoor planning and bad luck

They are already making tons of money, so they don't need to worry about that.

 Re: Sim City just released:
So do you have a Region or whatever made Coach or anyone that we can all join and take a slot? I posted in the other games forums a few days ago asking for people playing this, but I might as well post on here also. Playing alone is fun, but it's also boring/frustrating since you have limited space and have to rely on trading resources and stuff once your city gets so big.

 Re: Sim City just released:
Part of the problem about playing multiplayer right now is that it's kind of useless. They have most of the things disabled that would benefit you by having a multiplayer city, ie; giving resources and money to each other - disabled. Stats for your city - disabled. I'm going to wait until they reinstate the disabled stuff before I start playing the game with anyone.

It's actually in the Great Works, like building some super awesome huge thing that the whole region can benefit from. An Arcology, a huge solar power plant and other stuff. You also get benefits from other people having shit. Like a university, upgrades on the City Hall or extra police/fire/ambulance/trash and other city services. Since someone else has a "tech" you can use it too. However, like I said before, some of this stuff is disabled, so you don't always reap the benefits and really small city areas are hard to develop. (Compared to other Sim City games)

 Re: Sim City just released:
In celebration of how much I wanted this game to be perfect out of the box, I am playing through some SimCity 2000 and Sim Tower, bringing back the glory days. I'd forgotten just how much I used to love me some Sim games.
