If you want to be able to hear things from across the map (almost literally) then upgrade.

A better sound card will provide sounds from further away? I know nothing really bout sound cards but I can only imagine it being better quality not an increase of sound distance. I mean volume is volume isn't it?

Certain sounds can only be heard with a decent sound card. 1.6 was known for it. Direction of sounds are also more precise.

If money isn't an issue, it's an easy upgrade.

What you know about Surround sound?

But yes, aftermarket cards are great for increasing sound quality, so it you can splurge, do it. Keep in mind though with any other tech, you get what you pay for.

So I ordered my parents two laptops last week, decent ones too. I tried out cs with them and it was like flawless. Also, the sound was amazing compared to what i hear now. I was hearing birds chirphing and all sorts of shit. Definitely notice the difference.
