Re: hermaphrodite I feel sorry for her. She's a teenager who has to deal with gender identity with the whole world watching. More than likely the people surrounding her knew for some time about the issue and tried to hide it and told her that it's not an issue. It's a shame because you can tell she's absolutely mortified about the whole thing.

I agree with you that it's a shame she has to go through this whole ordeal at her age. As for her not being able to be an athlete, if she's found to be more male than female, she will just have to compete with the men. I wonder though just how precise the science is..what if they do hormonal tests or whatever they do, and find she's 50/50? Give back half the medal? |
