Want some feed back on Daypacks
I am looking at some daypacks as I will be doing some hiking. I am looking for something in the 30-50 L rang. I have looked at the big names such as Columbia, Northface, ecct and wanted to know if anyone could help me with some testimonial

Re: Want some feed back on Daypacks
if you want a day pack, get an ALICE pack from eBay. You can get them from 20-50 bucks and thats with the frame. Dont get some frameless (external or internal), glorified bookbag for hiking. If you want a true hiking pack that will be comfortable and rugged and intended for long hikes (such as the Appalachian Trail, for instance) go with the GoLite or something similar.

Re: Want some feed back on Daypacks
I went to a few places and test fitted about 10 different packs including and ALICE and found one that I know I will be able to use for more than just day hikes. I went with the Osprey Kestrel 28 Mountaineering Backpack. it is a good looking 28l pack that has every thing that I wanted in a pack. now to see how it holds up after a few months

Re: Want some feed back on Daypacks
if you need a big pack go with the GoLite Quest, i have it and it is sweet, tons of room, comfortable, and extremely light, i am able to fit all of my gear and still have room yet it only weighs like 8 pounds.

Id go with Millet, Osprey, Mountain gear, or black diamond. http://www.backcountrygear.com/camping- ... ml?cat=116This website has a ton of somewhat cheaper gear. Hope that helps, this is one of the sites I buy my gear from before I go in the field.

Re: Want some feed back on Daypacks
ALICE packs are pretty small but are pretty useful for short trips or a compact bug-out bag.

I get half off all columbia shit for future reference, esp if you're going to be in the area and can come pick it up. Shipping stuff is a huge PITA for me in general. I don't have F*CKING time to play video games any more, you think I have time to ship you shit?!?!?! GOD WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM
