 New Orleans
So... I'm going to New Orleans on Wednesday (coming back Friday). Anybody have any recommendations on shit to do while I'm there? I'll be staying at a hotel in the french quarter a couple blocks away from bourbon street and a few blocks away from that famous cafe with the HOMOSEXUAL donut things (I call them beej-nets because it sounds dirty).

 Re: New Orleans
They are pronounced "benays", and it really depends on what you want to do. Do you want to get hammered? you want to play golf? you want to get some history? attraction-wise history is your best bet with some tours and shit. i can tell you what bars to hit up if you are into that tho

Beignets = beej-nets. Anyway -- yeah, I'm into creepy/strange shit and so is the missus. There's a voodoo museum that I plan on hitting up. Any bars with a notable beer selection? I like variety -- specifically places with LOCAL variety. Any good places to eat are welcome too, but neither of us eat seafood/any kind of water-dwelling creature. I was told to go to the praline connection for awesome fried chicken, so I'll probably have to hit that too. Thanks in advance!

 Re: New Orleans
New Orleans is the shit. There's a bunch of walking tours. The one we went on took us to a tomb where this voodoo priestess remains and people leave offerings like flowers, cigarettes and booze. We took pictures with this homeless guy who we think was squatting in the cemetery. Get a po-boy. Po-boys are the shit. I got a fried oyster po boy and it was de-fucking-licious. Cafe Dumond is good. The beignets are always nice and hot and fresh because they're never around for very long anyway. Good coffee. Not great, but good. We also went to see the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. I'm not a huge fan of jazz, but those old farts can play. It was a great experience, all around.
This was a band trip I took in high school. I'd love to go back and do all the cool shit I couldn't do on a F*CKING high school band trip.
