I figured Id post some info and pics on my other hobby, some might say, my main hobby. I have 16 fish tanks for somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000g. Its all freshwater right now, but I am starting a 50 gallon saltwater now. Each tank has its own theme and type of fish. I have some just regular everyday fish that you can see in any store to some of the most rare fish in the hobby today. I just sold 2 catfish I had been raising for somewhere in the area of $700, and I cut the guy a huge break. I love the hobby and the ability of sitting in my living room and watching these guys just swim. I dont even turn on my tv anymore unless there is a football game on, I just sit and watch the tanks. Now, On with the pics.

Nice man. I wish I had more time for fish tanks (and money). I only have a little 10 gallon tank with a few tiger barbs, guppies, and a massive pleco. Your tanks look awesome, great job. Do you live in vegas by chance? I'll pay you to fix me up a nice tank ;)

So what are these rare fish that you have? just curious very cool tanks man.

LoL, I wish I lived near Vegas. I live in upstate NY, but my honest opinion if you want to start a bigger tank, or more tanks, is craigslist. I dont pay more then $1 per gallon for any of my tanks, and quite often, they come with filters, heaters, hoods, gravel, basically everything you need to start a tank except fish and water. My first 55 gallon I picked up fully running with 5 fish for $30 off craigslist. People often get tired of maintaining them or just set one up and dont know what they are doing, kill all their fish, get discouraged, and sell everything cheap, just to get rid of it. I cant tell you how much I find this stuff on there. As far as setup, thats all personal preference as far as decor, what kind of filter(if the tank doesnt come with one), and so on. Again, as far as fish and plants, let me know and I can ship any babies I have to get you started.

Nice! I've always had a fish tank too. I currently have one silver dollar (Had 2 but other one recently died), catfish, convict, and the red devil. The red devil kills any new fish I get, and recently finished off one of the two silver dollars after biting its nose off and tormenting it, but that's nature for you. I've got a 55 gallon tank that is guaranteed for life.

Ya, that is definately a strange stocking, mainly due to the silver dollars you have in there. Everything else should hold its own. I have a Red Devil in my South American tank, but thankfully, he was the last one we put in there and my jaguar cichlid keeps all the other fish in there in line... lol. My African tank is just as bad. Those guys are little pirannah when you put bloodworms in for them. I had a buddy think they were "pretty tropical fish", so had them feed them one day. He doesnt go near that tank anymore.... hahahaha. I also have a bunch of different puffer fish and they have teeth that will draw blood.

As for rare stuff I have, I think my favorites are the freshwater flounder, CPO mini lobsters, jumbo african upsidedown catfish, golden lyretail neons, diamond head neons, jumbo golden clams, and a few cichlids I will get you the specific name for. I love my mini lobsters. Those guys are so awesome and one of the only crayfish/lobster that is active during the day. I dont have too much other then that that is really even considered rare, and some of those I mentioned could be common depending on where in the world you are.

Wish I had the fishtanks my dad had while I was growing up. He actually cut a hole in our living room wall and built a stand behind the wall so that we could have a 75 gallon tank that was inset and flush with the wall. We kept silver arowana in it, and they kept dying because in nature, when they get huge they jump out of the water and eat monkeys. These ones jumped out of the water and ate concrete floor.



We have another tank (150 gallon) that is salt water. My father has a ton of clown fish in it of various colors, sizes and varieties and some angel fish and a few other types. He had TONS of coral and sea anemones for a while but a fungal infection hit one of his fish and when he medicated it, it destroyed all of the coral and anemones. For a while we had a ton of fighting fish and we had to keep them all in their own little bowls, and put paper between them. It was hilarious to pull the paper away and watch the fish try to fight and keep slamming into the glass. We also had lion fish and those things are dangerous as heck!

Ya, the local fish shop just sold their last one. I dont have a tank I want to dedicate to them, but I do like them and they grow huge. Very pretty fish. As for the saltwater tank, that is awesome you got to be around all that and enjoy that side of the hobby, although I am scared to death to start my saltwater tank. Its so much money gone when things go slightly wrong. Thank goodness the local shop is helping me out a ton, otherwise Id be screwed... lol.
