For all of you music lovers, let me introduce you to a new app that I have been using for a few months now

Spotify

Spotify is a great application because it allows you to search among millions of music and have it stream straight to your mobile device or your computer. You can sync spotify with facebook so that you can share your favorite playlists with your friends.

It has 3 version, free, unlimited and premium. I pay for the premium version and it is well worth it. I can add multiple albums to playlists then enable offline mode for that specific playlist. Then, I no longer have to be connected to the internet to listen to spotify - making it a great addition to my device lineup (Android, iPhone, Android Tablet, iPad, Custom built desktop and now my new laptop).

When you connect your phone or any spotify capable device to your home wifi network and open spotify on your computer, it automatically syncs any changes that you have recently made on your computer or on your mobile device.

You may have recently heard about spotify in the news recently. They have paired up with the Rolling Stones to bring some very intuitive applications within Spotify that really make up for any lack of feature within Spotify. I still have to test out some of the apps but from what I have seen so far, it's well worth a look.

Test it out for free and really play around with the features. It really is built for everyone even though everyone may not like it.

Vouch. Spotify is legit. I listen to it at work every day, even though it runs kinda shitty in linux.

Those are just the repositories to download it; you HAVE to do that to install it in linux afaik (so I've already done that). It's just a little laggy... like if I pause something, it takes 2-3 seconds to actually pause. Volume changes are the same way. It's workable, but it's just sluggish with regard to sound/music controls. I can navigate playlists and search for music quickly, though, so it's not THAT bad.

Sounds like you need a smartphone

I have a Nexus S 4G, but don't want to have to switch between three headsets at work. I already have to switch between two (computer and desk phone). Listening to it in my OS is fine.

love it on my NS4g, i have like 6gig of music downloaded locally.

I didn't like it. It was nice to get a taste of Windows 7 before I spent any money on the phone. I just hate the damn user interface. We had some really nice windows 7 rep come to our work and preach the benefits of it. He ended the class with one question "If you can find one reason why not to buy windows 7 I guarantee you I will have an answer."

Me: *raises hand* (of course, everyone knew this was coming) "um, You can put a customer wallpaper in the background, or a special border or design....it's just...black....you can customer the icons, I get that..."

Win 7 Rep: "Well it's not for everyone, mainly an introductory smartphone."

Win 7 is a decent interface and I would recommend it to a lot of people, but not ahead of the iphone or android, not yet at least. They are supposedly coming out with some banging features that will definitely peak my interest...

Loke actually gets the props for introducing us to Spotify. I just decided to try it out 3 days ago and I've already paid the $10 that Premium goes for. It hasn't even been a week and I've already committed to premium and that's a huge thing for me.

Spotify sounds great, but for it's price it simply cannot beat Pandora. There are TONS of great features here, but unfortunately, you must pay the cost to use them, such as offline listening, etc. I would assume since the music industry has no idea how often their songs are getting played, it costs a little more money. I like the fact that I payed around $20, and got an entire YEAR out of Pandora One. That's six times less than what I'd pay for Spotify, and three times as much if I choose the option that meets the same abilities as Pandora One. I simply cannot justify that kind of price.

Unfortunately, things like subscribing to paid music services need to feel as if they are small obligations. I like to pay a one-year-fee once, and never worry until it expires the next year. With Spotify, I'm continuously pulling money out of the bank to do this each month. While the fees seem small, just stopping for a moment and actually calculating what you're paying for isn't worth it. for that kind of money per year, you could go out and pretty much purchase every single one of the cool tracks you heard and liked and listen to them on your phone, etc. The problem is that your paying these huge royalty fees, and I don't agree with that one bit. I could see maybe paying half the price of each plan, but not $120 a year.
