Anarchy Online was awesome. Planetside was such a good idea, I wonder if people still play it. Everquest still holds a warm, irritated place in my heart. /shout WTB SoW for CR plz. Played all the others except Asherons Call and Twelve Sky. Did you ever play any of the superhero ones? City og Heroes/Villains, City of Champions? Nothing really lived up to EQ till WoW, but that became too much of a power gamer's game for me.

Planetside 2 is currently in production, btw.

It'd have to be Asheron's Call...I played that game for years before it petered out and just started looking retarded compared to the rest. I still loved it though. The open beta CD came in a magazine, can't even remember which one now. Anyways, they didn't sell the magazine here so I had to find one on the internet. I got to play the game for about a month before it was released, which I thought was astounding! LOL! In 1999, we didn't really have the MMOs out that we do now, so beta and open beta and the like, well, it was a novelty.

I can remember when I stopped playing it like it was yesterday...It was New Years Eve, 2004. - 1/1/05 I terminated my subscription. WOW had come out, but I was still loyal to AC. They had these bots you could run to help you level because the grind to 120 was horrid, not many people made the level and had lives too. On the eve of 05, I was running the bot on my guy and watching the TV, one of those New Year shows. You see, you were allowed to bot, but you had to be sitting in front of your computer. When I glanced away, one of the moderators sent me a tell asking if I was there. I didn't answer, so I got banned for 24 hours. I was so pissed that I jumped on the WOW bus and told AC to piss off.

Amazingly, the game still exists, but it's so horrid, that you can hardly play it. Of course, I played it before WOW and EQ came out. They had stunning graphics and such, so you look at AC versus WOW and EQ - Ewww! Grodie!

Did you guys ever play any MUDs? Now that was old-school.

Yeah, I played New Moon for a very long time. http://eclipse.cs.pdx.edu/ that was the tits! Very immersive game.

MUDs... ehhh.... almost got removed from the college on first semester (barely passed the critical exam - got 50.5/100 with required minimum 50).

I played the same MUD for like 5 years. I think WoW pretty much killed most of them off.
