So I was looking at my walls and admiring how empty they are when I had this idea,
I'd take two pictures from two different walls around my room facing outward, and then switch them (so it would be exactly like portal). I'd then need to photoshop a portal around said poster, and find some way to print a life sized poster. I don't know how to do either of these last two.
Alternatively I could dump hundreds of dollars into two small cameras and some of that LCD paper shit, and just switch the video feeds so it shows as portals in real time, probably wirelessly. While this would be awesome as F*CK -- I don't have that much money to throw into wall art.

Better idea: cut apart 6pack and 12pack cardboard and make cheap beer signs. See if you can cover an entire wall before the semester is over.

that would be cool, the thing is if you're passionate enough about it and it ends up nice, people will pay you to do it for them too.

Re: Poster/wall art idea
That's a good idea. You can get a "life-sized" poster done at probably some form of print shop. My work's got a plotter as well as the university has them too. They print on 36" and 42" paper depending on the size of the unit.
Only thing is that the perspective obviously won't "move" as you do, so you may want to put it at the far end of a room where you'll generally be looking at it from one direction.

Make graffiti stencils. I have them on my wall. Ive done a few, including one of the beatles. This pic to be exact, including color:
Solution! Kinko's (FedEx) can print any size of poster you want last I recall. The Photoshopping shouldn't be too hard I know I have photoshop and you can just make another layer and stick on a picture of the portal or something of that nature then combine the layers with some gradient transparency. You know how to reach me hooks if ya have any questions.

There's a pretty nice print shop out in Gibsonia, Minutemen Press. They were pretty reasonable from what I remember. They do posters and stuff. Or any print shop like the others said. Just make sure you take the picture with something that can get a nice resolution, so it doesn't pixelate. I'm not very technical, but you probably get the idea.

I have 4 alternatives for you:
1)

2)
3) contact someone from PSA - they may have a RL "no walls" haxs
4) get busy with some shit and stop staring at the empty walls
I remember I used flags....I like vexiology. it's easier when the walls are drywall and you have a false ceiling though.

When I shared a house with some friends we used to tear the labels off bottles and do this. We also decorated our Christmas tree with beer cardboard and playboy centerfolds.

I've seen this done, it's grand.

Freshman year of college we decorated all the rafters and walls of empty red bull cans from our lovely all nighters in design class for architechture.
