Yep. My neighbor just bought himself a FiveseveN.
He brought it over tonight.
WAY lighter than any other polymer pistol I've handled. WAY bigger grip-wise and length too. My hands aren't huge and I think I'd have a hard time keeping hold of it for a long period of time without tac gloves. No finger indents, no nothing.
The fully loaded 20 rd mag is extremely light. The rounds are polymer tipped just like the hmr17 and look similar, just a lil' bigger.
Pretty neat weapon, US made.

I was looking at a P90 that uses the same ammo but I just wasn't sure about stopping power on those little bullets.

Pretty neat weapon, US made. A good friend of mine has one. First time at the range with him we put some bowling pins at 100 yards. When he drew up his 5-7 I was like WTF are you doing? Every bowling pin, dead center not one miss. He obviously can't rapid fire but either way coming from a pistol its pretty amazing. I like the pistol but I don't see the need of use other than its cool. Ballistically its scary to see what your bullet is going to penetrate after it enters your target. That is one mean caliber.

Re: Yep. My neighbor just bought himself a FiveseveN.
A guy I used to work with had one and I got to fire it at the range one time. Ammo for it was $20/box at the time ($1 a bullet) and I imagine it's probably gone up since then, as that was like 4 years ago. I honestly didn't like it very much because of exactly what you said, Dirk: it feels extremely cheap because it's so light-weight. The coolest thing about it was the almost 3' fireball that shoots out of the barrel every time you fire it. That shit is AMAZING, especially in low light (indoor range ftw).
And Coach: the round moves too fast to have any really impressive stopping power. From just looking at the numbers, I'm guessing it's around the same as .223.

My mommy never let me play with more than a cap gun or a squirt gun while I was growing up, and she hates CSS, so I've been loathe to buy one. Personally, I prefer hand-to-hand. However, I do enjoy the novelty of the various sort of weaponry and artistry in the world, and that includes guns. Like Anal pointed out, the Five-seveN is pretty much dead-accurate, and it's the same in CSS, FYI. :D I've often considered purchasing a weapon that can be used for emergency scenarios, and this one would be of consideration, mainly because my intent wouldn't be to kill.

I have a hard time believing that someone was able to shoot bowling pins at dead-center at 100yds consistently with iron sights on a plastic combat handgun that is widely regarded as inaccurate by the competition-shooting community. The fiveseven is a novelty gun at best. Unless you plan on shooting police or other military/government personnel in a combat situation (extremely unlikely, and even then -- the benefits of .223 AP rounds or 7.62x39mm outweigh this handgun caliber 10-fold), this handgun is largely pointless. There, I said it.

Re: Yep. My neighbor just bought himself a FiveseveN.
Since we on guns again ill give a update on my 1911.I finally fired a box of shells and it is one of the best guns i ever fired. From around 40 yards a beer can doesn't stand a chance.I didn't really have anywhere to shoot so 40 yard can shooting was all i did.But it was pretty smooth and didn't kick as bad as some 40's or 9's ive had.The small hand problem i had with my old beretta 92fs pulling to the right was not there at all.Pretty dam accurate pistol.

It's hard to beat a Kimber for 1911 pistols.

Its one of those things that I should of been recording but was well before my range recording craze. Dead center, probably not but the pins were falling while he was shooting from a bench rest and I stand by the not a single miss. I don't remember how many pins we had but it was about 6 I would assume. Normally we buy 1/2 dozen from the bowling alley a few times a year. As for being regarded as inaccurate, its only as accurate as the person shooting it and any competition shooter will tell you that, I know many. The friend that I speak of shoots competition regularly as well as being a police officer. This guys eats, sleeps and shits guns. We call him Tackle Barry. I've seen him buy ammo over diapers for his kids, true story. He makes my collection look like a joke and he adds to it weekly. He is a far more advanced shooter than I am and has taught me most of what know. I eat his ass whenever I can.
