everytime i go onto the n00bfest server, it downloads the same files, quake sounds, and 1 or 2 other things, i looked in the folder C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\r3xx3r\counter-strike source\cstrike and there are none of them there. inside the maps folder, there are no maps, just soundcahce, but i can still play on most maps. i also can't connect to the server when its at vostok, it says i dont have that map. is there another place the maps would be stored, or is there something wrong with my install.


edit: ok, i restarted my computer, now i can play on de_vostok. i still dont see the maps in my C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\r3xx3r\counter-strike source\cstrike\maps folder. and i dont see the quake sounds or anything else that was download from a server.

I assume that most of the maps you play are built into the game (cs_office, de_dust2, etc). You can't delete them without modifying some files.

However, the downloading of the quake sounds and stuff sounds really annoying and I don't have any help for that.. do you know where the sounds are being saved?

it says its downloading them to sound/quake than the file. and now the only thing in my sound folder, is a file called teamswitch1.mp3

I had the same thing like a week or two ago.

Go here.

Download the Quake Sound Pack or, as they have it listed, "Quake Pack Sounds" -- third link down.

Extract into the appropriate directories -- don't have Steam on this box or I'd tell you exactly -- but if I remember correctly, the directories in the zip match up to some folder inside Program Files\Steam\ -- I think it was like games\CounterStrikeSource or whatever

If you extract it right the files will now be in the /sounds folder.

Restart steam, and you'll be good to go.
