Post New n00b Membership Process
Fist off, h!gh has replaced BulletCatcher as the head of the Council. Congrats, h!gh. We love you!

About the current n00bfest membership process....there are a few problems with it, mainly because it causes the council to all be online at the same time. If people miss meetings, then their vote doesn't count at all... and because not everybody’s lives revolve around n00bfest, it isn't really practical to try to have everyone on at the same time.

Another problem is that the waiting period is a bit inconsistent. Some folks wait for a little while and some folks wait for a long while. Hell, we've had a few people slip through the cracks too.

This is how the new process works:

A potential n00b applies to be a [rct]. They do this by posting in the n00b membership requests forum, as normal.

A council member or Elder replies to their thread and lets them know they've been placed on a probationary period for 30 days.

Said council member or Elder creates a thread in a new forum called “n00b Candidate Discussion,” which only council members and elders have access to.

In the aforementioned thread, council members and Elders can give their opinion on the member and discuss any potential issues with them (douchebaggery, inactivity, etc). Council members and Elders can either post their feelings right away, whether good or bad, or they can wait until closer to the maturity date of that probationary period. Any council member or elder may change their vote on any candidate as long as they do so before the maturity date.

Each n00b who reaches their maturity date in a given week will be announced at the same time on one set day of the week (I like Friday), but only AFTER they've hit their maturity date.

The council leader (h!gh) will be in charge of giving the yes/no over any members without at least a 2/3rds majority in favor of them joining. This means that any potential n00b who doesn't get at least 2 out of 3 votes in favor of their membership is up for review by the council leader. The council leader's vote can only be overturned by Gman, CorpseHumper, or a majority Elder's vote (with h!gh's vote counting as an Elder vote). I don't see that ever happening, though.

Hopefully this new system will work out a lot better for everyone.

Also, there will be one more final council meeting in which the council will vote on all of the folks who have been on the waiting list for 30 days or more; anyone who hasn't been on the list that long will be put on the new system and will be announced/rejected upon completion of their probationary period.

There's not a recruit list, but you can create their thread in the voting forum as long as you follow the correct format.

Seriously, if you want to thank someone: Thank Acid for implementing all the changes (so quickly, he does have a F*CKING job and RL work to do) and Rok for keeping track of everything in the chaos. Myself, I was only the go between guy making sure things stayed organized while Gman was the Straw boss who sat back and said, "You do this and you do this. I'll be over here doing this"

Hellz yeah on a smooth transition though, could have been worse!

Yeah, the new elders handled almost all of the admin changes singlehandedly with very minimal direction while I was at work today. They did an excellent job and I couldn't ask for a better team of folks to work with.

I did almost singlehandedly invent and implement the new membership process thingy, so I deserve at least some credit for myself. :-P

I think you are all doing a fine job, it is not easy to lead people in a online situation like this but it shows the maturity and dedication of all involved in the the leadership of this community.

I can easily say I am glad to be a n00b!

With a little practice I might just make it to somewhat good.

Yep. He was chosen and was a good pick for the job. Folks since the changes started to come about, the time came for me to retire as Council Leader and let someone else take over. So now you all must get on yo F*CKING knees and kiss h!gh's ass!

Sounds like a really good Idea.

So Council members can also accept applications?
