Yeah, I've heard nothing but bad things about the PC version of this. The main complaint being that it's horribly unoptomized to the point that a Geforce GTX 260 can't run this thing at a smooth 60 FPS (I think it dips as low as 25 from what I hear).

I completely disagree on the GTA for consoles theory. I havn't played GTA4 on PC yet but I still play San Andreas and I'd rather play that on PC over console anyday

i've played GTA4 on my xbox360 and it's awesome. i haven't played any of the GTA games on PC, but i agree that it seems more natural on a console, just because of the different types of navigation you do, and a controller seems to be better than keyboard and mouse for everything that doesn't involve walking/running and shooting, which is most of the game.

anyway, i only got like 40% done before i fucked up my disk :( so i gotta buy it again so i can beat it. one of the downsides of consoles :(

I played SA on both Console and PC (with a game pad) and I kinda prefer it on the PC for a few little spots here but it just will always pop into my head as a Console game and meant and built for console, hence with this GTA4 I am getting in Console (I just recently moved over to the current gen Consoles) then PC. Though what I can't stand is the game on an Xbox controller layout, I played it on 360 and I swear I felt raped, it's meant for the Sony Standard controller which is the also the main standard for PC gamepads :P.
